I thought Texas was hot when I visited last month, but we got it bad here this week. Near 100 today in old PA. My swimming pool has reached record temps - a lukewarm 86 yesterday. Usually even in the summer here you feel like a Titanic survivor in the pool unless it's heated.

Sounds good to me i love the heat but it aint hot unless the dashbord in your car warps from the heat ^&grin

Hi Combat,

It seems hot everywhere. Yesterday, it was 105 degrees F at 6:30 p.m. in the Kansas town in which I live. {eek3} Ugh.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

As I sit in A/C comfort watching the classic 1939 version of "The Four Feathers", it is 98 (108 heat index) outside and getting worse tomorrow. Old Ralph just keeled over with sunstroke. Should never have left England. This heat wave is really something. Be glad when its October. -- Al

I'll do 22 miles in this on my bike, though, I don't get to hit the road till 6PM, so it'll be down around 92 degrees at that point.

My goodness, it's only 90 today in Tucson, but humidity is about 45, so overall not to bad, think I'll do some yardwork:)...Sammy

Yep ....they set up jugs of "Gator aide" (I think) around the plant today. Hope there's enough for 2nd shift. The stuff tastes like it's filtered through dad's coin jar....but good.

Put your t-shirt under the cold water for a few seconds + two bottles of water in the freezer and you do fine...Here up north, Ottawa Canada, right now 5:39 PM, with the humidity factor is 46C Celsius....I LOVE IT...{eek3}.
Rod.

It was 98 at 7PM, wind was from the south, south-south-east, and only moderately cooling, even at 25 mph. Still, not too bad, as riding weather goes.

Prost!

Well, the heat wave is over for the now. It's 11pm and the heat index is down to 93 (actual temp is 87).:rolleyes2: Only supposed to hit 102 actual temp tomorrow. When is the next snowmeggedon due? -- Al

25 mph is really a good pace, special on this weather.....{bravo}}

Return of the Heat Wave, now playing across the US. Now 9:15 am here and it is 90 with a heat index of 100.{eek3} Another day trapped inside for me. Stay safe if you have to work outside. -- Al

Jeez Al, that is hot and early with it! Just been reading about it on the BBC, stay safe yourself mate.(and all our American members)

Yeah, waking up to 80 degrees at sunrise was quite the treat. Every day, at sunup, it's been 10 degrees warmer than the day before.

It's been a good time to do some painting, though, since my bench is in the basement.

Prost!

Thanks for the care, Rob. It's blazing hot here. Bad summer, so far. I keep threatening the wife with a move to the Orkney Islands. These air conditioning bills are killers. I see the rising temps as lost TS purchases. Still, I live by the motto, "Thou shalt not perspire in one's own home".^&grin Come on October. Stay well. -- Al

I don't have AC, I just have ceiling fans in a couple of rooms. You get used to it. I drink a lot of water or juice. Believe it or not, it's actually too hot to drink beer, or at least, to enjoy it.

(a non-alcoholic) Prost!

Ding! Ding! Ding! It is now 12:50 and we are at 100 with the index at 112. Time for the siesta.^&grin -- Al

And a nasty, oppressive 100. Very humid. My pool reached a record water temp of 90 degrees. Usually tops around 82 here in the summer. That's 16,000 gallons of water being heated up near a hot tub by the outdoor temps. A lot of heat.

Over 100 in Toms River NJ. Not sure how you do it with out AC. Spending my day in my office in the basement. The nice thing about a basement is it is always cool, and I can set the thermostat to 78 in the rest of the house.
