Superb I am so happy for City to have pipped man utd who get nothing on points is excellent.

So much for those noisy neighbours now.

Well done City

I'm happy for the fans that they finally win a prize. However, I strongly am against the spending of the owner of Manchester City. 496 million pounds spent on players since 2008. Compare that to the number 2 this year, Manchester United, 124 million pounds spent in the same time.

I'm sorry but, the owner just doesn't deserve this prize.

I think they fully deserve it and good on them. They spent a lot of money but, they can afford to and, really needed to overhaul the team and everything about the club. The sums you speak of are not on the first team squad and, include some 300 millions plus wiping out the clubs debt.

Every team spends what they can but, look at how much liverpool spent in just the summer gone and, won one cup and have been whofully poor finishing way way below what the spending would say they should have.

Just because you spend vast sums of money does not automatically bring with it success and everything that goes with it. You have to be able to pick a winning team from all that you have and that requires skill and good management. Man city have had a rough time with players on and off the field and, have managed it well enough to win the title.

Most of the sums they have spent are on wages and, if one looks at the squads of the top teams there is not much difference when they field their best team.

This bought the title has gone back to blackburn when they won... yes they had good financial backing but, they fielded great players and, won because of two at the time great strikers sutton and shearer playing in a good team.

The bought the title issue can equally be laid at chelsea and man utd and to a lesser extent arsenal because of their income and the income of sky.

Man utd were 8 points clear not so long back and threw it away if it was down to money how did they get beat by wigan?? that and the inability to defend against everton 4-4 and losing to man city cost them the title, not cash IMO

Good for Man City. I'm glad to see them finally win. I remember a few years ago when they won promotion to the Premier League, Man U was looking down on them.

I'm reminded of the saying when the slaves got their freedom after the Civil War and a former slave quipped to his former master, "Hello massa, bottom rail on top this time."

I disagree.

Unless and until the world of football adopts a US football (American) system to give some kind of level playing field, money will always buy titles. We could discuss the sixties and seventies when it was a little bit fairer, or the 'maximum wage' days when Preston, Blackpool and other 'town' rather than 'city' clubs won things. City won it in 1968 shortly after promotion themselves.

Since the premier league, an institution built on the so called big club greed, only big spending - with astute managment - has won the league. In the late 80's we finished abovet United, still low in the league and their support was weakening.

City have a fanbase of 30,000 in the third tier of English football, top six support, 50th in the leagues. We took more fans away than home fans if the grounds were big enough. We still lost but still followed the team. It was this support and the former Commonwealth Stadium, now the Etihad, that made City and attractive business prosition. With the right investment I am confident the return will come, along with much more fun than many investments. Also, who had even heard of Etihad Airlines and Abu Dhabi as a tourist destination before they bought City. How much would such global publicity be worth? I think they are shrewd businessmen. As for the level of short term investment, it was EUAFA that prompted such level of short term investment as they were closing the door of opportunity. City's revenue and capital worth are both skyrocketing.

The purchase price of Man u's team on Sunday was higher than City's.

Could I suggest you consider the following for example ...

Do you consider Phillips and PSV, Burlessconi and Milan, what about Franco and Real Madrid? I could go on but suspect most people think it is good that a new team are challenging the monopoly of the self perpetuating rich clubs.

In the meantime, I thank his Highness Sheik Mansour for the best team in the land and as for the money, 'frankly Scarlett, I don't give a darn'.

I disagree.
The Premier League is 1 of the most competitive competitions around. Spain is dominated by 2 big spenders. Italy is dominated by Milan. In England we still have a fairly healthy selection of clubs. Sure, Manchester United has won a lot the last decade, but they always had to put up a fight for it with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and a very very strong subtop with City and Spurs. And each year we had 1 or 2 teams from the middle that had an awesome year attaching itself to the subtop. That is a healthy competition...

Now sure, money is how football works these days, but City's spending are out of this world. 4 times as much as this year's number 2!!!! That is absolutely insane! And if it continues doing so teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and also United will have nothing to put up to City's financial power anymore. The result will be that England turns into a country like Spain and Italy, 1 club in front with a huge gap. Who benefits from that? What's fun about that? And the funny thing is that when Chelsea got that russian owner and the club went beserk on the transfermarket, everybody judged them for trying to ruin the market. And I'm sure that included City fans as well.

Tell me, is that really how you want to see it? Do you want your club to dominate the Premier League every year with no competition at all? I just cant imagin anybody loving football to want such a situation. But I guess I just love the game more than the succes...

By the way, you mentioned Philips and PSV. Curious, as I'm from the Netherlands, are you saying PSV is a rich top club? You do know that in 2011 the club sold the land it's facilities are on to the city of Eindhoven to prevent the club from getting into the red digits.
