Hey Fellas:

not sure how many of us are aware but Congress did designate March 30th as Welcome Home VietNam vets day. The Nam vets have always been individuals I have always looked up to and admired. Your sacrifices, sorrow and pain and dignity in the face of repeated disprespect by your countrymen on your honor display the courage of character and the measure of honor you are all so worthy off. A special thanks goes to the NamComs I had the immense honor of serving with:

CSM Charles Fitzpatrick
SSG Charlie Johnson
SGT Glen Druckemiller
SGT Earl McNutt

and my alltime favorite Nam Vet- my grandfather (did it twice)

and a Big Hooah to all the Nam vets on this Forum-

my boy, BROMHEAD
Spitfrnd
gk5717
Sans Cullotte
Pugio
Northgate Woods (representing the Aussies)

and to any others I may have overlooked- stand tall and WELCOME HOME!! %^V%^V

I share in your sentiments, and I wanted to add our good friend Chuck Harris and my good friend Rick Spinelli to the list of Vietman Vets we should all be appreciating.:smile2:

My Dad did 1 tour of Borneo and 2 of Vietnam with the SASR and he always said they didn't welcome me home then im not interested now, well when he was alive he wasn't interested and alot of his ex Regiments mates agreed with him.

Hats off to all of the Vietnam vets, and on that note hats off to all of the vets everywhere!! :salute::

Interesting take- I took over custodianship of my grandfathers awards when he passed away in 1994. I found it interesting that his WW2 victory medal had seen extensive wear yet his Viet Nam campaign ribbon was still sealed in the box from the day it was issued........^&confuse

I already called Doug Luna and Rick Spinelli to thank them for their service. Later today I will call Chuck Harris and thank him for his.

To everybody reading this who is a Vietnam veteran, thank you for your service, and (long overdue) welcome home!:salute::

Thank you Airbourne

Just got off the phone with our good friend Chuck Harris. I am happy to say that Chuck is doing a lot better. His voice sounded stronger, he said his doctors say he is improving, and the only thing that is keeping him from participating on the forum is his eyesight, which is still too weak.

When I told him I was calling to welcome him home on Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans day, he told me better late than never, and he'd rather hear from me than from the government.^&grin Typical Chuck, his illness hasn't effected his sense of humor.

Oh, and let me throw out a big welcome home to our cobber veteran from down under, Howard!:smile2:

One last person who has been instrumental in this hobby who should be welcomed home and thanked today is Bob Fisher, the former owner of the Old Toy Soldier Home and the founder of the Westcoaster.

Doug Luna told me that Bob, then a U.S. Marine Major, was universally respected among the Marines in Vietnam, because when some fool of a general ordered him to attack an area known to be a death trap, he said "I'm not sending my boys in there to be killed for no good reason", and stood by his decision up the chain of command until someone with sense saw it was the right thing to do. As Bob Fisher's courage and concern of the men under his command undoubtedly saved the lives of countless Marines, I thought we should all extend him a special welcome home, on behalf of the families of the men whose lives he saved.

Bob, I for one, am honored to know you.:salute::
