No buzz about the NCAA B-ball this year. Just wanted to congratulate VCU and Butler for their run to the Final Four. No #1 or #2 seed made it through, so I guess you can say the National Champion is not going to be the best team but the most fortunate. If VCU beats Butler, then a #11 seed that had to play a "play-in" game is going to have a shot at the championship. Bet no one saw these pairings coming. I sure didn't. -- Al

Just because a team is ranked No. 1 by the "experts" - it doesn't mean it is the best team.. I think in a "one-and-done" tournament it's most usually the more fortunate team or hottest team that wins.. It's not how you start, but how you finish..

My favorite team is in the final four: Kentucky (born and raised in KY). And another favorite team is in the final four: Butler (my daughter graduated from Butler).

Well, congratulations to UConn for winning the championship. Coach's third, quite an achievment. The game, however, was terrible. Worst championship game I've ever seen. No flow and no one could shoot to save their mothers. Couple of interesting facts: It was the lowest scoring title game since 1949 (no shot clock or 3 points shots back then). Butler's 18% shooting (12 of 64 total, 4-31 2 pointers and 8-38 3 pointers) was the lowest ever in a title game. Not sure Butler's 41 total points was the lowest ever, but I think it was. Never seen such poor shooting by both teams. It was a snoozefest. Had me wishing for Duke, NC, OSU, anyone else for that matter. Was painfully obvious that the NCAA's best teams were not on display last night. The Cinderella match-up turned into a huge pumpkin. Don't know how Butler could get to the title game for the second year in a row and look like they were an elementary school team. Just plain embarrassing. Too bad. Well, at least I can now say that the UMD vs Indiana title game is no longer the worst title game I've watched. -- Al

Yes, one of the ugliest games in history. I couldn't even watch much of it. At one point they flashed up the shooting stats and Butler was something like 2 for 25! Incredible. Maybe the pressure caught up with them. Still a remarkable run by Butler. There is so much luck involved in this type of tournament that getting to the finals two years in a row - even for a higher profile team - is nothing short of miracle.

A tough game to watch. Congrats to UConn...I had them bumped out pretty early. You often see a team get hot in a conference tourney...only to come crashing back to reality. They just kept playing well.

Stat correction - Butler's 3 pointers were 8-33, not 38. Sorry. -- Al

I agree it was a horribly ugly game - but really, by BOTH teams. Butler got to the championship game two years in a row, by playing EXCELLENT defense, team play and being a fundamentally sound team.. I don't know if it was nerves ( I don't this so), but they just couldn't hit a bucket and it just kept getting worse and worse.

I would hate to think that Butler would be remembered for this one game... I also think that the "best" team (if there is such a thing) rarely wins the entire thing.

And will U Conn even retain the championship if the NCAA continues to investigate Calhoun's recruiting violations?

Overall is was an exciting tournament.

Family members along with everyone in lexington ky are still repeating "one point' over and over,,along with how easily Uk would have won it all.
