I purchased seven units of the Marlborough durbar series thirty years ago ... and no one in my family is interested in them, so I would like to find a buyer who will cherish these wonderful creations as much as I have. The collection includes:
(1) The hunting cheetahs
(2) The Princess Baroda riding in her magnificent carriage
(3) Six warriors on stilts
(4) Two British officials riding in an open landau drawn by four horses
(5) Three camel gunners, one bearing a large flag
(6) The Maharaja of Orca riding on his elephant, with nine attendants
(7) The boy prince riding a horse with his guardian, followed by his falconer riding another horse
If you do not know the Marlborough series, they are lead figures cast and handpainted in Wales by a family that made them for years. They are historical reproductions of people in India who celebrated the coronation of Edward VII on January 1, 1903. They are truly glorious.
