Re: Martin Ritchie Band-SOLVED! West Point Army Band, the "Hellcats"

Sandor nailed it! I'm looking at an old catalog sheet I have from Martin, and under "Military Bands", the first item is #203, "WEST POINT ARMY BAND, the "Hellcats", dark blue coats, light blue trousers, coats & shako helmets corded white. 42 piece set includes 5 Trombones, 5 French Horns, 4 Clarinets, 3 Picolos (sic), 4 Saxaphones (sic), 2 Tubas, 2 SOUSAPHONES (sic), 7 Coronet (sic) Horns, 1 Cymbal, 5 Ancient Snare Drums, 2 Bass Drummers, 1 Band Master, 1 Drum Major"

The original catalog price for that set of 42 figures, circa 1994, was $524. Not bad at all.

Good call, Sandor, and a nice little set, Tom! You should contact Martin and see if you could get the remaining figures to complete the set.

Prost!
Brad

thanks! This was the fife bugles and drums, the brass is an add on to get the full set. I found a price list with no pics, so thanks for the help!

I have spent a fair amount of time hanging around West Point, and got to spend a few hours kicking it with some of the bandsmen.
