Matte Durbar (1 Viewer)

Ahh...
Good to hear your 'hands on' approach to getting what you need for your collection again!
Hope all is well and hope to see you at the West Coaster!
Ken

One must try to keep up appearances. It is a tale of woe that you are telling in regards the gloss\matte story. No one can win them all.;)

For the most part I collect glossy figures. Still when the Treefrog Forum appears on my screen I can't help but notice that there are more viewers on the matt threads. So I can understand the emphasis on production being matt.

I have some of Britain's India figures, but doubt I'll be getting more.

I am enjoying the Redcoat figures, especially those of the Seven Years (French-Indian) War era. Maybe 1st gear could add to this series, and maybe they could add by going towards Europe with King Frederick the Great of Prussia. Many of the present figures could be transferred to the European battlefields.

I would also like more Indians and more French for the French-Indian War series. Maybe Indian hunting parties, in canoes, hanging around or defending their longhouses.

Hopefully I'm not alone.

I've just finished painting the fellow below. He's lonely. He needs friends and family. I hope he isn't 'The Last of the Hurons, or The Last of the Mohawks.

Wishing you a happy holiday season Ken, but don't take too much time off. Keep up the good work.

Hello All!
I have to tell you that we always come back from shows with pretty much the same results.
Some one will come up to our table and point to a Gloss figure and say..."If you would do this one in Matte I would by it!".

Five minutes later someone will come to the table and pick up the same figure and say "I really love this one...will you be adding an NCO in Gloss?"

So several times a year we sit down to work on a line list for the next go around and we say..."Well this would be a nice figure but should it be Gloss or Matte?"
In the end we try to be creative... and that isn't always easy if you look at the long history of Toy and Model soldiers. So at this moment we will offer a Matte finished Durbar set... It seems like a new approach to an old subject. Who knows what will come up next?
All the best!
Ken

I guess it must be a bit of challenge deciding what line to make next and then deciding if it should be matte or gloss. Was the elephant well received at the show Ken? I was wondering why the Zulu's are the only ones in the lineup that have received both the matte & gloss treatment?
