WOW304 Junkers Ju.88 Anti-Shipping Variant

The Junkers 88 was one of the Luftwaffe's most flexible aircraft during WW2. Initially classed as a 'fast bomber' this twin engine aircraft went onto fulfill various other roles including; torpedo bomber, dive bomber, night fighter and towards the end of the war as the 'Mistel' guided flying bomb.
The Ju.88 first flew in 1936 and achieved a top speed of 360 MPH, something unheard of for a bomber in those days. Although only 12 aircraft were available to the Luftwaffe at the start of the Polish campaign by the end of the war over 16,000 had been manufactured. A crew of a Ju.88 had the distinction of being the last enemy soldiers to fight on British soil at the Battle of Graveney Marsh, when after crash landing the crew decided to remove the machine guns from the aircraft and set up a defensive position round the aircraft. The London Irish Rifles came under sustained fire from the crew but were eventually encouraged to surrender when faced with insurmountable odds.

WOW304 comes in the traditional 2 tone green camouflage operated by the Luftwaffe with an over spray of wellenmuster camouflage. Our model is based on an aircraft that operated from KG 26 based in Norway in 1943 and comes with 2 x torpedoes slung underneath. Also faithfully replicated are the Walter rocket pods, which helped heavily laden Luftwaffe aircraft take off with that extra oooomph sometimes needed to get off the ground. The pods were jettisoned upon takeoff and parachuted back to earth.

This 1/30 scale model limited to 3 worldwide and priced at $899 plus shipping & £799 in EU/UK , comes with free FJ041 sentry figure whilst stocks last. All other figures shown are for scale reference purposes only.

WOW050 Messerschmitt Bf 110 Wasp Nose Variant (Restock)

Our 1/30 scale aircraft is from Zerstorergeschwader 1 (ZG 1) a unit that carried the Wasp art nose-work on its aircraft since the Norwegian campaign in 1940. Equipped with the 110 during the French and Russian campaigns, a huge amount of ground targets were claimed by the units pilots before switching some of the units aircraft to the troublesome Me 210 and latterly the Me 410. Some of the units remaining 110’s were also fitted with the 37mm underbelly cannon and utilized in the anti tank role at Kursk with mixed results. Towards the end of the war ZG1 were employed in the Defence of the Reich taking on the USAAF bombers with often disastrous results. The unit was finally disbanded in July 1944 with its personnel being deployed to other Grupen.
We have had 1 restock in of this model, comes with free figure FJ034A sentry and is priced at $799 plus shipping.

WOW293 Messerschmitt Bf.110

The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was a twin engine heavy fighter armed with 2 x 20mm cannons, 4 x 7.92mm machine guns at the front and 1 x MG fitted to the rear for defence. The Bf 110 served with success in the early stages of the war during the Polish and France campaigns but was hopelessly outclassed by the RAF’s fighters during the Battle of Britain where is served as a bomber escort. Redeployed as a nightfighter in the West the BF 110 was well suited to this role, especially when flown by aces like Major Schnaufer who claimed 121 victories solely in this type of aircraft. In other theatres such as the Balkans and the Russian front, the 110 soldiered on as a ground attack/fighter bomber and performed admirably. A 37mm cannon could also be fitted under the belly of the Bf 110 which made this a formidably armed aircraft when used in the ground attack or bomber interceptor role. The 110 was also adopted by Italy, Romania and Hungary amongst others with over 6000 aircraft being produced during its operational career.

Our 1/30 aircraft is from Zerstorergeschwader 26 which was operating from Berca in North Africa in 1942 and is limited to 3 in number worldwide.
Comes with free Italian Folgore sentry from our stock catalogue. Priced at $799 plus shipping & £699 in UK/EU. All other figures shown are from King & Country and are shown for scale purposes only.

WOW301 Mitsubishi J2M 'Jack'

The Mitsubishi J2M Raiden was a single-engined land-based fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service in World War II. The Allied reporting name was “Jack”.

The J2M was designed by Jiro Horikoshi, creator of the A6M Zero to meet the 14-Shi official specification. It was to be a strictly local-defence interceptor, intended to counter the threat of high-altitude bomber raids and thus relied on speed, climb performance, and armament at the expense of maneuverability. The J2M was a sleek but stubby craft with its oversized Mitsubishi Kasei engine buried behind a long cowling, cooled by an intake fan and connected to the propeller with an extension shaft.

The first J2M3s appeared in October 1943 but deliveries to combat units did not start until the beginning of February 1944.
The Raiden made its combat debut in June 1944 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Several J2Ms operated from Guam and Saipan and a small number of aircraft were deployed to the Philippines. Later some J2Ms were based in Chosen airfields, Genzan (Wonsan), Ranan (Nanam), Funei (Nuren), Rashin (Najin) and Konan under Genzan Ku, for defence of these areas and fighting against Soviet Naval Aviation units.

Primarily designed to defend against the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, the type was handicapped at high altitude by the lack of a turbocharger. However its four-cannon armament supplied effective firepower and the use of dive and zoom tactics allowed it to down enemy aircraft at a respectable rate.

Our warbird was flown by Lt Yoshihiro Aoki. In December 1944 Aoki was transferred to Kokutai 352 in Japan as leader of unit´s 3. Buntai (Division). The 2 lightnings on the fuselage identify Buntai leader.

This warbird is 1/30 scale and is priced at $599 plus shipping & £480 in UK/EU. This limited edition of 3 models come with a free RS061A marching officer figure from our catalogue. The figures shown are from King & Country and are shown for scale reference purposes only.

WOW297 Felixstowe Flying Boat

The Felixstowe F.2 was a 1917 British flying boat designed and developed by Lt Commander John Porte RN whilst serving at the naval air station Felixstowe during WW1.
Porte adapted a Felixstowe F.1 and married it to a larger Curtiss H-12 flying boat. The Felixstowe hull had superior water contacting attributes and became a key base technology for most seaplane designs thereafter.
The Felixstowe F.2A was used as a patrol aircraft over the North Sea until the end of the war. Its excellent performance and maneuverability made it an effective and popular type, often fighting enemy patrol and fighter aircraft, as well as hunting U-boats and Zeppelin airships.

Our 1/32 scale wood model comes in the late war 'dazzle' camouflage pattern and is available in a limited number of 4 models worldwide. The excellent figures and equipment shown are mainly from John Jenkins designs and are not included, they are shown for scale purposes only.
This model is priced at $1200 plus shipping & £1100 in UK/EU.

Dear all welcome to our May 2020 Aircraft newsletter featuring some exciting new products. All our hand carved Mahogany aircraft take in the region of 180 days to manufacture plus many more hours of drying time. For this reason we only make small numbers of each model and every aircraft is a unique piece.
For those of you who wish to spread your budget when buying our aircraft, please note we do accept stage payments where you can spread the cost over several months. If you require further details of any of the aircraft in today's newsletter, please email welcome@gunnclub.co.uk and ask for a quote.

All our aircraft now come with their own stands and can be displayed in flying mode if required.

Thank you to Dr Mark Dyer for all his research with these particular models.

A beautiful grouping of aircraft, as usual. Love the Felixstowe and the Japanese Thunderbolt. The camo paint job on the JU88 must have been a real task for the model painter to apply. Came out superbly. -- Al

Great releases, good mix of releases, my favourite is the JU88, but the ME110s look the business. Do not collect much WW1 stuff, but I think the WW1 planes such as the one released this month from TGunn are great standalone pieces.

Interesting how using ink to create faux panel-lines works on some models and not on others. This one looks great to me, and all that 1/30 real estate would look kind of odd were too much of it left unadorned.

Wow, just wow.

John from Texas

Sure is WOW John, I wish I still had the room to display a collection of WW2 Aircraft in that scale. I do have a 1/32 Lancaster Bomber which refused to fit in my Hobby room, it ended up in my lounge room in a low display case that serves as a side table.

I dont collect WW1 at all but that Felixstowe Flying Boat below is just gorgeous. The paint job and the display board its on just go together beautifully. I think they will be snapped up pretty quickly.
