May 2023 Releases (1 Viewer)

Agree, i also thought of female caddies such as Rachel Welsh, M Monroe, etc. Posing with the golf bag etc. 007 and Goldfinger and Oddjob, famous Golf scene. Samuel L Jackson, playing in his Kilt.

With the recent dramas over a Black Cleopatra in a movie, I wonder if an African American actor in a kilt is cultural appropriation or is it White face. That said I know plenty of Australian Aborigines that are Whiter than me, maybe this is the new normal, life is getting more complicated and confusing the older I get {eek3}

Confusion is alive and well, in my head. On Samual L Jackson wearing kilt, i meant it as i have seen pictures of him playing golf in a kilt and the figures released look like other pictures of famous people playing golf.

On cultural appropreation, that too bigger/wide subject for a TS forum. Not one for me, i just want to talk about toy soldiers. I think the new marching Germans look excellent, guy with the eyepatch is an interesting twist. Interesting to hear from Tfroggers which NCO or NCOs they will be buying. I was thinking of the figure with the MG ammo boxes as he goes well with the existing marching HEER figures and there is no NCO with them. Then the NCO with the mortar plate as well. The Emperor looks impressive, but i only collect fighting 9th and 19th Legions, so not one for me, but can see the quality. I am looking forward to the future release of the Repel cavalry twin sets, as my JJD Gaul Cavalry have had it too easy for a while.

Apparently the kilt wearing episodes centered around a movie he appeared in called 51st State/Formula 51, and yes I have been known to discuss ideas that are not TS centric. As for recent TGM TS releases, I mainly collect Aussie based sets and WW2 (Waffen SS) Normandy, soooo not likely to buy any of the new TGM sets mentioned on this thread.

A really interesting assortment of figures this month. Love the Emperor's Garden figures. I have to take another look at them more closely. The golfers are a real surprise and a neat idea for a contest. Always enjoy what TG comes up with.

With all that nudity on show with these latest releases I'm surprised there hasn't been a letter of complaint from Mrs Mary Whitehouse or whatever that blokes name is, probably having to lay down in a darkened room ! {sm4}
On the recent cultural appropriation of Cleopatra, seems Egyptians are fuming and all 100 + million of them are racists I read !
Not a golfer myself, but I won't rule out buying any future releases depending on who's being portrayed. A MASH duo I'd probably buy, but as to other characters who knows !

The golfer with the hat reminds me of Sam Snead (most of you probably don’t know he was). It’s too bad the other golfer doesn’t look like Steve McQueen; that would have been a purchase for me.

Nope, it's not Sam Snead.

Hint: if the mystery guy played Baseball they'd call him Batter Bing ^&grin

Dear all

Welcome to our May 2023 Releases. Time is moving fast and this month we have some new Romans, WW2 German Heer Figures, and the release of a new Golf range, which is a new exciting direction for the company.

A picture of Alfie for all you fans of him, as he feeling a little rough and unhealthy or unAlfie as we say in the office, he has been in the wars recently and is awaiting full medevac in one of our Hueys, we are looking at the award of a Purple Heart at the same time!

Forget the toy soldiers.

Please keep us updated on Alfie’s status.

The TS’s are paying for his treatment. My order is in to assist his recovery. Robin.
