Hello All, Just Want To Take A Minute To Remember And To Thank All Those Who Have Fought To Keep This Country Safe And To Those Who Have Paid The Ultimate Sacrafice, My Deepest And Heart Felt Respect.

Most Of Us Will Be Bar-b-qing Or At Weekend Get Together With Friends And Family, Let Us Not Forget What Memorial Weekend And Memorial Day Are About, Those That Have Served Our Country, And Those Who Are Fighting For Our Country Right Now,.....i Saw A Cnn Report Last Year That Had The Reporter Asked A Class Full Of Students What Was Memorial Day About, And I Must Say I Was Ashamed For Most Of Those Students That Thought It Was The Official Kick Off To Summer Or The First Big Summer Get Together With Family And Such, I Have A 9 Yr, Old Son And You Can Believe Me He Knows What Memorial Day Is All About .......thank You Vets.........sammy

My son is 2 and a half, and every day we sit up in the museum, and I tell him about what his great uncles Joseph and John did for him. I show him Uncle Joe's Purple Heart, and my K&C model of the B17 they died in, and I explain that if Uncle Joe and all the other brave Veterans hadn't fought the Nazis, Mommy wouldn't be here, Daddy wouldn't be here, and he wouldn't be here. I don't know hom much he understands, but every once and a while he points at the photographs of his great uncles, and says "poor Uncle Joe" or "poor Uncle John" and I think he gets more than we credit him with.

So on behalf of little Alec, thanks to all the American and Allied Veterans who gave him, and me, our lives. In my house you will never be forgotten or go unappreciated. Thank you.

It was a mistake to change the holiday from the 30th to the fourth Monday instead. "Sorry, Grampa, we appreciate that you were wounded/died to keep us free, but it's inconvenient when Memorial Day falls on a Wednesday. We're sure you don't mind."
You're absolutely right, it's a shame that fewer and fewer people-not just the current crop of school children-understand or appreciate what the holiday is for.
Same goes for Veterans' Day.

I did.
The day has personal significance for me, it's also my birthday.

I was careful to uncheck the mailing list box, though. The rest of those causes already get enough money from Soros, et al.

I am a school teacher and a VFW member. Every 4th of July, Veterans Day, Armed Forces day, I and several of my students plant flags at our 3 local cemeteries on all of the graves of veterans. IT is a tradition for me and my wife. The students always change but I continue to do it. The local VFW provides the flags and we provide the labor of love. We will remember!:)

(Belated) Happy Birthday, Brad!

Hope you had a good one mate!

Cheers,

Molloy.

Thanks much, actually, it's on the 30th. Before the government changed the holiday, I always had off on my birthday ;) I'll raise my mug to you, and to the vets.

Prost!
Brad

Ah ok, sorry, I didn't realise the date had been moved! Have a great day anyway when it does roll around!

Cheers,

Molloy.

I spent my Memorial Day weekend going to the Jones Beach air show with my wife and son, and 300 thousand neighbors. What a great event and those Navy Blue Angels were phenominal. Loved the Navy C-130 "Fat Albert". I flew on the 130 many times while in the Airforce, and I was full of pride seeinmg that Herci bird again. I was so proud when the old-timers flew the B-17 in all its glory for an entire modern generation to see as well as the legendary P-41. Next year it is the "Thunderbirds". God Bless our military and all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
