Check Six!
This will not be a popular post and I would rather refrain from it but I feel it is necessary especially if changes can be made on forthcoming orders for this scale model. There are too many errors for such an iconic aircraft especially when the fully restored original can be viewed online or in person at the National Museum of the USAF/Wright-Patterson AFB.
The bubble/canopy window in front of the cockpit on the nose section did not exist on the B-17F ‘MEMPHIS BELLE”. It was present on the B-17G “Shoo Shoo Shoo BABY” though as a reference.
There are so many stenciled/painted names missing on this model which made it unique and special like...”PETE REPEAT” right above the tail gunner’s 50 caliber stingers; “IRENE” below the Navigators window; “Sally” below the left port waist gunner opening and “Virginia” on the opposite side. There are several others which would be easy to add to this historic plane to make it a lot more realistic. As always, a little weathering goes a long way but I can overlook that detail. I do not expect perfection but this one is too far off to ignore. Thanks for reading and hopefully positive change moving forward.
