So I am pretty new to this site, but I just wanted to make a post saying hello to everyone! I am one of those lucky few who get to work in a toy soldier store and also collect some figures myself. I wanted to showcase a scene that I made for the store today based off of the Australian retrieval of the German A7V "Mephisto." I hope you enjoy!

Cheers,
RoboNarples.

I didn't actually notice the "smoke" in the background until now... awesome work guys!

Bad news for you though, it's like working in a sweet shop, temptations all around, very addictive. Watching to see how you handle work/hobby. Tough gig.^&grin, Robin.

You know, that's incredibly true. On a daily basis I find myself looking at a new range thinking, "I could collect that." Stat tuned for my economic demise. {sm4}

Robo .... here are some original pics of the incident

Mephisto fought its first ever battle at St Quentin on 21 March 1918. Its second operation came at Villers-Bretonneux on 24 April 1918.
In that attack it became stranded in a shell crater, and was eventually recovered from the battlefield by men of the 26th Battalion, AIF in a daring night-time operation.

Thanks for the pics and link John. I do have this model and will get around to buying some Aussie WWI troops to use in a similar display to Robos. The pics you supplied appear to be sometime after the initial capture where some graffiti etc has been applied to the tank. Yes apparently the Germans initially called them tanks before using the more apt Panzer. Also interesting to note that Villers-Bretonneux is approx 20 kilometres (as the crow flies) from Villers-Bocage of WW2/Wittmann fame.

Thanks Matt, I appreciate the captured photos, those are too cool! Wasn't their a guy on this website who got the Mephisto and put the Lion on it using decals?

Yes, that was 'Waynepoo', he got the decals thru Custom Hobby Decals, but apparently the decals were difficult to apply. Personally I'm not going to bother with the Lion decals etc, just have it as representing the initial capture.

Thanks! I couldn't find any of his photos but I'll do more exploring!
