Are there any other Mignot Napoleonic collectors out there? I found this mfg. in a book and then stumbled onto some auctions AND FELL IN LOVE with this style and detail...Are these sized as the small Britains or are they a taller 54mm? Will they match up to Dorsets and Wessex? Thanks for any help. Michael

Michael.

I found this information on Tradition of Londons website:-

C.B.G. Toy soldiers, 54mm mignot standard size.
CBG MIGNOT has been on the market since 1825 without any interruption whatever the European, World or civilian wars, the revolutions, Occupations and other events of smaller importance the Company went through. The little Mignots are still made using the old techniques, slightly updated, from the original moulds, the oldest ones of which still used tracing back to 1825, and most of them to the Twenties quite often, only the state of freshness and the style of painting gloss or semi-gloss will differentiate to-day figures from figures made a halfcentury or more ago.

Having never seen any up close I can't say whether they match Dorset and Wessex.

Hope this is some help.

Regards

Jeff

Michael, you found my other weakness. My wallet. Mignot and Lucotte are the best of the French. Really well done toy soldiers. I think they are more expensive then Britains.

Michael,

I look forward to your photos.

Just in case you don't know, Jack Carlson of Le Petit Soldat is the U.S. Distributor of C.B.G Mignot toy soldiers. Also, at one time, he handled W. Britains figures.

Michael I have several Mignot sets. Yes these will fit in with old Britains or any trational toy soldier line. If you go on the Britains forum in the "Britains Old Hollowcast" thread, I posted some pictures of Mignot sets in there.
I love Mignot but they are expensive. But when you buy a box of infantry, it comes with 12 figures instead of the usual six. Mounted figures come in sets of five. They do have sets of infantry that come with five figures for around $140. Check out some of the pictures on the Le Petit Soldat link that Pat provided. The cavalry sets are beautiful. Check out the Bavarian Uhlan set, it's awesome. Check out e-bay often. There's always single cavalry pieces listed. Might be more affordable to build a set that way.

Michael here's a photo of a Mignot set of French Grenadiers. Would love to see pictures of the cavalry figures you purchased. You can't beat figures that have been around since the time of Napoleon.

There appear to be several auctions for mounted riders right now, some still decently priced.
