This is the only set of toy soldiers that I have from V.C Miniatures which I recently picked up on eBay. I believe that the company is long gone, but they started production in 1987 and were known for their vignettes. They also had a Series 50 range which were limited editions of 50 sets. They had planned on making ten such sets, but I don't know if they ever did. The idea behind this range was to produce regiments whose uniforms were based on their national costumes. They were to include Greek Light Infantry 1913, Montenegro Reserve 1913, Samoa Governor's Bodyguard 1940, Tonkin 1890, and a Turkish Auxiliary Battalion 1864.

This is set number 27 of 50: TURKISH AUXILIARY BATTALION (MEXICO), 1864. I have no idea what the story is regarding a Turkish battalion in Mexico in 1864. The head/faces on these figures appear to be from Blenheim/Marlborough/Star to my minds eye.

Mike,
Hi.
Do you happen to have a photo of the Greeks?
These are the two sets that I have:
Greek Light Infantry 1813 Napoleonic Wars and Greek Evzones.

I have gone back and reorganized some of my Hiriart displays to add additional sets to them. These sets were previously displayed in three rows with an officer, then a flag bearer and bugler, and finally six men. By putting all nine figures in one row, I was able to add eight additional sets and now have 25 World War II sets on display rather than the previous 17 sets.

Photo 1: Overall view of new Hiriart World War II display shelf.

Photo 2: Set Nos. 1149 Motorradfahrer Deutsches Reich, 1254 Finnish Infantry, 1083 British Red Devil Paratroopers, 1384 Eighth Army, North Africa with Montgomery, and 1129 Royal Navy, winter with Churchill.

Photo 3: Set Nos. 1163 British 1st Airborne Division, 1178 Japanese Imperial Navy with Yamamoto, and 1333 U.S. Infantry, the Philippines with Mac Arthur.

Photo 4: Set Nos. 1333 as above, 1155 U.S. Infantry, D-Day with Eisenhower, reserved space for 1220 SPECIAL Deutsches Afrika Korps , 1147 Totenkopf S.S. Panzer Grenadiers, and non-catalog Spanish Azul (Blue) Division in German service.

Photo 5: Set Nos. non-catalog Spanish Blue Division as above, 1048 SPECIAL Deutschen Kriegsmarine in blue winter uniforms with helmets, 1299 Fallschrimjaegers, 1147 SPECIAL Totenkopf S.S. in summer camouflage uniforms, 1219 Prinz Eugen S.S. Gebirgsjaeger Division, and 1220 Liberation of Paris with De Gaulle.

They are not Turkish but part of the french force in Mexico ( Maximilien period ), Sudanese Egyptian bataillon

My latest Treefrog order also included this John Jenkins Designs set ROT-10 Roth Wurzburg Infantry Regiment Officer and Drummer from the Seven Years War, Battle of Leuthen 1757 range. I noticed the prototypes for two flag bearers from this regiment that John is working on which I plan to purchase when they become available.

Ahhhhhh Mike,

A man after my own heart. Me too!

Happy Collecting,

My latest Treefrog order also included some "odds and ends." I acquired two JGMiniatures bases made for two King & Country Battle of the Bulge sets: BBA1 Rifle Section Base and BBA2 Support Section Base. In 2004, I had picked up K & C sets BBA01 and BBA02 and stored them away until this week. I also picked up from Treefrog K & C set BBG087 German Dead. The winter base and trees are from Build-A-Rama which I will use elsewhere.

Those should be pretty attractive and exciting to see, once they're painted up for release. As with so many other contingents that made up the Reichsarmee, the Würzburgers had some colorful flags, with a design that harkened back to the flags of the previous generations.

Prost!

I am also anxious to see how John's Roth Wurzburg color party turns out.

I finally was able to pick up the last two sets in the Bastion Models Boxer Rebellion range; the 26th and 27th sets. Unless I am mistaken, that is all there were with sets B.1 through B.25 plus the two artillery sets C.1 and C.2. This is Set No. B.23 Chinese Irregular Infantry.

This is the other Bastion Models Boxer Rebellion set that I picked up: B.22 Chinese Boxers in Action (White). In sum, there are five sets of Chinese Boxers or Irregular Infantry in the range, plus one set of Chinese Imperial Infantry and one set of Imperial Chinese Artillery. There is also a set on the Allies side of the 1st Chinese Regiment in British service. So, about 25% of the range are Chinese sets, while the balance, 75%, represent the various Allies.
