Sorry Tex, its framed in a shadow box with the Spanish American War Medal, Dewey Medal and a couple of bottons off of Spanish Tunics, as part of an homage to the brave soldier who carried it in combat, and earned himself a battlefield promotion.

I understand. Who was the soldier, out of curiousity? I have a particular interest in the Spanish-American War partially due to my great-great uncle being a Captain in Gomez's rebel forces. He was later the head of Cuban veterans' affairs for a while and wrote some pamphlets about his experiences.

His name was Brody. I have his entire history, and a bunch of his souveniers, including a beautiful Spanish Infantry Officer's sword and his own 1903 pattern US Artillery officer's sword. I bought the whole lot from one of his descendents.

WOW!!
That sounds pretty cool. I think a photo of Brody can be found in the book The Splendid Little War. My meagre collection of Spanish American War artefacts comes down to a rifle made 2 years after, an ammo bandolier from 9 years later, and a repro belt! I envy you!
Did Brody's relative have some good stories?

Clifford Brody . . . apparently he was a sergeant in the regular infantry, received a battlefield promotion during the Spanish American War, and eventually retired a Lt.Colonel after serving with one of the original Air Corps Squadrons in WWI.
