The Military History Weekend in Williamsburg over October 17/18 just keeps getting bigger - more guest authors, veterans, reenactment groups, wargames, demos and events are added daily. Check out our new site at
http://www.mhwshow.com.

Please note - there seems to be some misconceptions out there that this is a Britains only show - that is absolutely not the case. All manufacturers and dealers are welcome - already signed up are dealers with toy soldiers from Blackhawk, Old Northwest, Ted Toy and St. Petersburg Collection to King and County, John Jenkins, Collector's Showcase, Monarch and Little Legion. Plus much much more -plastics, wargame figures, militaria, books etc.

See you there!

Richard

Hi Richard,

I just got home from a vacation/visit with my wifes family and have to say I was thrilled to find the Standard and the flyer for this weekend. It looks to be a very cool event and I just wish I was on the east coast I would definately be there.

Thanks for the great info on this event.

Dave

I have been trying to get in on the collector's evening but can't get anyone to return my call from First Gear to get on the list.

Richard is on the road making sales calls. I will mention it to him when I talk to him.
I know there are still some tickets available.
Ken

I went ahead and ordered tickets on line. I plan on being there. I hope I won,t have to crash the party, but,,if you notice a rather large potted palm that tends to breath heavy when new product is mentioned. Be suspect!!
O.C.

Hi 6th Wisconsin - Give me a ring at 563.690.1259 or send me a PM with your number and I will give you a ring. We have had some folks out sick last week and with me away as well I fear follow up has not been as swift as I would like!

Tickets are getting tight - but I will put one aside for you now until we talk.

Thanks and look forward to seieng you there.

Richard

PS - spent a couple days in Williamsburg last week and the show is shaping up nicely - lost of interesting things to see and do and a great array of vendors as well.

Seems like all's be to quite on how the Military History Weekend turned out. Coluld be that Ericka, Ken and Richard are all tuckered out due to all the prep and work along with a little partying that took place over the weekend. Hope we'll be filled in once they've rested along with photos.

I spent over a day at the Military History Weekend and attended the dinner. The dinner was a lot of fun. I dined with a retired navy captain and a couple of guys who work for Britains. Ed Shames of I company, 506th PIR spoke at the dinner, and my son enjoyed getting to meet him at the show one day. I got to meet Ken Osen and spent lots of time discussing products with him. David Youngquist of Britains showed me a few tips on painting soldiers. Both guys were super.

There wasn't much in the way of reenactments outside, and the weather was cold and a bit rainy. I wish the Revolution camp had allowed kids under 8 because my 6-yr old son wanted to do it, but my kids had a great time doing snap-together models and painting soldiers. A dealer was very nice and gave them a couple of great figures too, including a Polish Lancer. My daughter expected to be bored but had a great time and really didn't want to leave. There were a few extremely nice vehicles on display outside. There were reenactors walking around from a lot of different periods.

We were eating lunch in a diner next door. Two GIs were eating at the booth beside us, and a guy walked in to sit down and told them "I thought you should know that I just saw a couple of Krauts down the street."

Things were a bit spreadout in that hotel, but it was fine after you learned the layout. There were lots of dealers, and I saw tons of Britains, quite a bit of King and Country, some Figarti, and a decent supply of Collectors Showcase, among others.

There were also dealers selling playsets, military artwork, military history and modeling books, and DVDs. I saw a few guys displaying plastic models, and there were 5-10 guys selling militaria (mostly WWII).

To be honest, this was my first mostly toy soldier show. I had been to several militaria shows before. They don't do many toy soldier shows in the NC area, but I thought it was very good, and I was happy to hear they are planning to do another one next year. Now, if only the sun will shine next time.

It's nice knowing that you and your young ones enjoyed the event and thank you for taking the time telling us about it. Nice to hear you got a chance to spend some time with Ken and got some painting tips from David and that your planning on returning to the event next year. Once again thanks for the update....Joe

Great report on your observations of the Military History weekend. Thank you very much. I am glad you were able to meet Ken Osen and spend some time with him. He always makes himself available to hobbiest and he is a great tutor. Sounds like you and your family had a very nice time.
Mike
