They are flat as a pancake right now. I don't think they have a true firebrand leading the way like when Pete Rose came .

I watched the Giants v Phillies game last night and you are right.

Something is off about Philadelphia.

They have talent at every position yet they can’t seem to put it all together.

Yes,They beat the Giants today scoring 5 runs in the first inning but had only 1 hit for the rest of the game (they did score 1 more run). They have been terrible with runners in scoring position. Actually since the came back from London last year they have been a .500 club. Even their top 2 pitchers haven't looked good and I don't have too much faith in their relivers. Sanchez and Luzardo have done well.Marsh hasn't had a hit in April.

All that aside it was pretty cool to recently see the Nic Cage look-alike, Matt Strahm, use a National Treasure inspired glove.

It is really early but my bets is the Mets and Blue Jays expected more from their massive signings of Soto and Guerrero.

Soto is hitting .240 with 3 HRs and 9 RBIs;

Guerrero is hitting .291 with 1 HR and 10 RBIs.

Meanwhile the A’s Tyler Soderstrom is hitting .309 with 9 HRs and 19 RBIs.

Soderstrom has a 1year $765k contract, Soto and Guerrero’s current contracts total $1.265bil.

The Phillies just took 2 from Miami but Miami is not a very good team, a lot of young players. The Phillies had 18 hits and scored 11 runs but only won by 1 run  .They are not going to win anything with that relieving staff that they have.

The Giants continue to hold their own in the NL West.

Funny scheduling quirk, they do not play the Dodgers for the first time this season until June 12.

The Phillies played the Mets,The Phillies lost 3 to the Mets,The Mets are better.

There are 4, maybe 5 teams in the NL that could beat any team in the AL, the AL stinks.

The Dodgers and the Mets would sweep any poser from the AL in a WS.

George:

The best NL West teams alone seem to be outpacing the entire American League.

Again it is still early in the season.

The Phillies have lost 5 in a row. Instead of improving as they get deeper into the season they are getting worse.Their starting pitching has went down some but the bullpen and their hitting is terrible. They didn't do much in the off season and it's showing.
