MLB 2025 (2 Viewers)

The Giants can’t compete with a $275mil payroll.
The Dodgers had a 2025 payroll of $397M.
The (83 win) Mets had a 2025 payroll of $337M.

The Red Sox organization has decided that they cannot sustain spending like that, not under the current CBA, not under the next CBA which is almost certain to increase financial and draft penalties to rein in these organizations, not if the goal is excellence every single year instead of a "GFIN" "championship window" mentality.

The theory of success has to be something different than outspending everyone else.

The Dodgers outspent everyone else and won a WS title; gee, never saw that coming.

If they don't get hammered with the new CBA, then the sport is screwed.

Dodgers had luck going for them too this year as the Phillies (fell flat as usual) and the Blue Jays fought them tooth and nail until the end. But in their defense they did have a lot of injuries and prevailed.

Yeah, good for them, a bunch of scrappy nobodies that pulled off another WS title, some stiff I wouldn't know if I fell over hits the game tying home run in game 7 in the 9th inning and they won again, balls getting wedged under fences, a fairy tale ending, so heartwarming to see.

The Red Sox are one of four MLB teams that have yet to sign a free agent this off season, the other three teams are the Twins, Nationals and Rockies.

Nice to know the Red Sox are now a small market team.

The Giants have not signed any big names this offseason.

I think they are content filling the stands and collecting TV revenue as management knows that without another $150 mil from ownership they are not going to win.
