I think the Dodgers actually benefitted by not getting a bye in the first round. They seem to have found their offensive mojo against the Reds. Started pitching was outstanding.
I think the weak spot for LA may be the relief pitching.

No doubt about that. It has been awful all season long. If they can put up some runs and get six or more solid innings from the starters, they will be fine. If not, they are doomed.

Biggest game of the year and Sox and Yanks pitching Rookies and both are smoking it through 3...

And just like that it's over, great job Gashouse Gorillas, you knocked off the AAA Red Sox.

When the Red Sox escaped from bases loaded no outs without allowing a run in game one, I thought that's it, series is over.

My best friends son is 25, he sent me a text this morning about how upset he is and how he barely slept last night; I replied back "Welcome to my world pre 2004"...........

Funny how someone his age knows nothing about all the nonsense we put up with as fans for 86 years, our grandparents and uncles, our parents and older brothers and us.

Imagine trotting Bucky Dent out to throw out the first pitch; 20 years from now, they'll be trotting out Aaron Boone, the hero of game 7 of the 2003 ALCS.

Good for the Yankees and their fans; they won a wild card series vs the Red Sox with all three games played at home, barely winning game two/literally getting every break/bounce possible and then getting a lights out performance from some kid who is from Walpole, grew up as a Red Sox fan, went to the 2004 WS victory parade as a three year old (have to hand it to ESPN, they never miss a trick when it comes to **** like this), pitched at Northeastern and was passed over by his hometown team.

I'm sure him and Rice were yucking it up in the clubhouse after the game.

Have they started construction on Schindler's monument yet in monument park, asking for a friend.

Whatever.

For me, the 2025 MLB season is now over, a time to once again take a deep dive into this poem written by the late A. Bartlett Giamatti...............

"Green fields of the mind"

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

Good luck to anyone on the forum who still has a dog in the fight, I'm out, it's on to the NFL.

MLB should have had the Dodgers and Phillies play last night.

They pretty much had the sports world to themselves except for the WNBA finals.

If that is what they are afraid of then the players should reevaluate their stance against the salary cap based on TV revenue.

I like the 2 young pitchers in the Yanks/Sox in game 3. Future looks good for them. Early had some bad luck in that 4th inning.

I thought the Blue Jays were one of those low market, limited salary teams fighting the likes of the high spending Yankees.

A $255 mil payroll makes you a favorite.

It felt like the Dodgers stole one last night. Down 3-0 in that environment with a shaky bullpen. A huge win. This is still a 50-50 series but that one was big.

Yes, I don't have a good feeling for my Phillies. They go against Snell Monday and he handled them pretty good last time he pitched against them.

Whew. Another hard-fought win by the Dodgers. They almost blew it but a win is a win. I didn't even realize this was a best of five series. Thought it was a seven-game series. Two road wins are huge. A Dodger split at home ends it. This has to be one of the worst sports weeks in Philly/PA sports history with the Phillies losing twice, the Eagles losing, and Penn St getting rolled.

As an aside, it didn't look to me like Freeman had his foot on the bag when he fielded that short hop throw to end the game. Hard to tell for sure but I thought they would certainly have reviewed it.

With the way the division series is going, and with today a travel day for the Phillies, Phillies fans are going down to the airport to boo takeoffs and landings.

Prost!

All credit to the Dodgers who have been my World Series winner since the season started.

At the same time the Phillies’ bats have never recovered from the first round bye.

They have the NL batting title winner and the NL home run champ. Turner and Schwarber have 2 hits in 3 games.

I don't think the bye had anything to do with it. The Phillies' big hitters have cycled through slumps like this throughout the regular season, and that was when they played every day. The lack of offense doesn't help, of course, though in Game 2, a win would only have taken 2 runs. The mediocre bullpen is a bigger liability. They get a good start handed to them, and blow it. That, too, is a pattern that persisted throughout the season, playing every day.

Prost!

The Phillies are a very streaky team and they are in a bad streak right now. Schwarber has been basically in a slump since September. I think the pressure of trying to catch Howard's record started it and he hasn't been able to battle out of it. Turner missed 18 games before the playoffs and I don't think he has gotten his timing back. They have won the season series against the Dodgers the last 2 years but the Dodgers are getting even for that. I think you will see some roster changes this coming off season. 4 years and they have went from the WS to the NL championship to Division winner the last 2 years who look like they are about to be swept this year. Harper I don't know what to say about him.

What a shelling that Kershaw took last night. Deja vu from prior playoff years. As great as he has been in his career, he has been terrible in the playoffs. They should give the fans in the outfield bleachers helmets to protect themselves from incoming HRs. At least the Yankees are out. I loved the camera shots of their fans as the game slipped away. And to the "Blue Jays." I didn't even know Toronto still had a team.

THROW.
TO.
FIRST.
BASE.

My God, what a brain fart.

The Dodgers are a stacked team, but Mother of God, they won with a RBI walk and a throwing error and with Ohtani going 1-18 in the series.

Baseball is part talent, part luck and part having a horseshoe up your ass.
