As some of you may know from another post, I am building a 1:35 sas diorama in england, for this I need to get some modern british houses and i was thinking of scratch building out of balsa wood but i've never done that before and i want to see what else is up in the market before I try that. So please send any links you can find of 1:35 modern-looking houses that look like they could be suitable in a british diorama, Thanks!

Hi!
If you want to make them yourself, here is what I recommend:
  1. Go to whatever your version of Home Depot is, and buy pink foam in the thickness you want for walls.
  2. Cut it into the shape of each side of the house.
  3. Use a ruler an an angle to draw on where you want the doors and windows to be.
  4. Use a hot wire or exacto knife to either draw on these features, or to cur holes for any of the readily available miniature doors and windows, such as these:

  5. Paint the whole thing with a combination of paint and sand to give the texture of stucco, overlay strips of balsa for siding, or buy sheets of brick or stone mats to glue on.
  6. For a roof, sheets of shingles are also available.

If you want to buy a whole building or kit, here are some sites:

Those links are brilliant but I can't afford something that expensive so i'll just scratch build instead, thanks for the tip, i think ill make a template in cardboard first to get the right dimensions

Also, there is this one site that sells these unpainted plaster buildings, which you can paint and enhance with scratch built items, for pretty cheap. I was having trouble finding it, so if any other forum members have a link...... Also, that site with just the doors and windows is pretty good. As a last remark, WBritain made a SOS figure, that might make a nice focal point...
Hope that helps,
Sandor
