Somewhere in this forum was a discussion between KC and Figarti LRDG's (CWT 30 Chevy Truck). I got both and the 2 are superb in craftsmanship. The only problem is they differ in size. While both claim 1/30 scale, KC is smaller compare to Figarti. I solved the problem by modifying the KC LRDG Truck to a CWT15. The latter is exactly the same in looks but with a smaller wheel base. The CWT 15's were used in lieu of the Jeeps which were supplied to SAS troops. Eventually during the later part of the war the LRDG jot their Jeep allotment. Attached are the photos to show the differences and some real photos ot CWT 15 & 30 (CWT can be distinguished with the spare tire on the driver side.

More LRDG photos ...
Note how I interchange Figarti and KC drivers, I also removed the brush guard and moved the spare tire to the driver side.

Cool! Thanks for this post, I often wondered what differences may have existed in scale and detail between the two brands. Against my better judgement I am slowly building an Eighth Army series and have just ordered the recently retired LRDG truck from K&C.

Considered the Figarti models as well, but don't have any in my collection yet. From all the pics I have seen, the figures often seem a little 'clunky' to me. Is it just the usually published pix or are they slightly 'stiff' looking and a bit disproportionate in size?

The Figarti figures were from the early style sculpting. The latest Figarti figure releases are much better. The KC's are definitely a class of their own.
Did anyone in the forum have the Figarti 1/32 LRDG? Maybe it is the same size as the KC LRDG.

Another set of 2 modified Chaffee tanks. No 2 tanks looked alike in the battlefield, in name and stowage configuration.

NP,

I've got the Figarti 1/32 Chevy and the K&C Chevys, and you're right, they are virtually the same size. Figures on the Figarti are a little smaller than the K&C figures.

See you've repositioned the Chaffee .50 cal mount as well ;)

:) Nice! I was thinking about taking the 2-Guys Driver and Passenger, out of the K&C LRDG Truck and placing them in my 1/25th Scale SAS Recon 'ATTACK" Jeep , that I put together, and using the Man in the Rear of the K&C LRDG Truck , placing him in the Rear of my 1/25th Scale "ATTACK", Jeep firing a .50 Caliber U.S.MG! I hope to show everyone the Photo's , when I Complete this Transaction! I've been trying to suggest to K&C to make an 'Attack' Jeep to go along with the rest of the SAS Sets, and poosibly a 4-Man Ground Fighting SAS Group? CIAO!

Excellent work NP,these really work and look good together.I'm getting the K&C versions lickety split as they are now starting to retire,I had no idea how good they looked with Figarti.Love what you've done with the Chaffee's too.

But let's us not forget Tamiya Classic 1/35 version as shown and model by Don Skinner which appeared in The Encyclopedia of Military Modeling first published back in 1981;););)

That Tamiya LRDF Chevy was the first model I every attempted. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. To the others, great modifications on the Chafee's and LRDG Chevy's, we have some very talented people on this forum. I don't have the guts to carve up my expensive toys!

Well done, love the dimension it brings to the hobby, it is an aspect I could well and truly get into. Thanks for posting … Alby

Thanks for your generous comments troops.

Check thread : "Kangaroo Armored Personnel Carrier." I posted a modified Century 21 Sherman to a British ARV
