Initially they made good progress against the shellshocked Germans, who had been subjected to two hours of carpet bombing from over 1,000 RAF and US 8th Air Force heavy bombers. However, as the day progessed, the defense stiffened, slowing the advancing armored columns.

By mid afternoon, the 1st SS Armoured Division took up positions on Bourgebus Ridge and lauched counterattacks, stopping VIII Corps short of it's objective, round one goes to the Germans............

Very cool setup. This is my favorite of your displays to date. Did you paint all those figures?

George,
thats quite the sets you have there, very impressive, are you still adding pieces or are you at a 1 to 1 ratio vs. actual forces in WWII yet?

Thanks for the feedback; I can't take the credit for the majority of the painted figures, they are professionally painted mostly by top shelf painters from the Uk, they do incredible work as wargaming is huge in the Uk...............

Thanks Ray; I have slowed down quite a bit as far as adding stuff to the WWII collection. At this point, I am adding British Infantry, Marines and Japanese and Italians as I plan on some Italy dioramas next year.

Funny you say a 1 to 1 ratio; I counted all of my American And German tanks last week and I am close to 1 to 1 on both fronts, I guess I kind of overdid it......:D

George,
Lets face it the Axis forces are just more interesting in there wide variety of Camos, both uniforms and equipment. I'd venture to guess my sets would be reletively equal as well in my collection.

Agreed 100%; I stopped counting German tanks once I got above 100........nuts, when would I ever use that many in one diorama? It would be fun to try though.........

Another stunning set-up and you are correct UK war-gaming is phenomenal over here. One of my best pals I'm sure believes he is a re-incarnated Field Marshall, he invited me down to a local establishment where they play out WWII campaigns/battles on huge tables.

I watched him command the British 7th Armoured Division fighting the Battle of Villers Bocage using rules designed by I believe a Company called Rapid Fire. But it was the figures and AV's that impressed me, obviously I had seen your collection here on the forum but the detail of them up close and personal is quite something else. My chum's figures are made by a company called Chiltern Miniatures-dont know whether you are familiar with them but they are one of the tops over here.

I stayed for a couple of mesmerising hours and as I left my "frustrated field marshall pal" was screaming across the hall at some poor assistant subaltern "Ammunition I must have ammunition" :D

My friend George, I said this before, but I really like your high grass photography.

Cheers

Thanks for the kind comments Reb; Rapid Fire is perhaps the most popular 20mm WWII rules set going, I love it and the supplements are all terrific, I buy them for the rules, organizational charts and above all else, the incredible pictures. I am familiar with Chiltern as well, they do terrific figures, their British Airborne are top shelf.

Thanks Rod and Alex, I appreciate it. Rod, I am getting the most use of that field, aren't I!!

I loved this field. Remind me the first and last 2 minutes of Gladiator.

Rod.
