Hi. I give the figures a good wash and soak in washing up liquid and then prime in humbrol spray acrylic. I use humbrol revell and games workshop paints mainly. Not had any issues with paint not taking to these figures. Although the plastic is soft and difficult to clean mould lines from, I've not found it poor to paint. Have you had problems?
I tried some old esci British Zulu war figures about 20 years ago. Washed them and painted with GW paints. They saw a lot of action and the rifle paint started to chip off.
I have not tried the Conte plastics for fear of the same thing.
I have found that you need a very sharp blade to get the mold lines off. Surgical scissors might work for hard to reach spots.
