Alright here is my first complete resin cast figure from the mold I made from the scratch sculpted Russian Cossack figure I made. I have about a dozen cast so far and I,m converting them all to different poses with different weapons added some extra gear and cutting them up into different body positions to make the one figure look like many. I need to do a few different heads also so they don,t all look the same. The lack of heat down in the basement has slowed my work pace but here is one done anyway!

Hey Fish

superb job and most impressive - you should do more of these and maybe flog a few on ebay.

The first thing that I thought of was that painting of the Cossacks surprising Napoleon and his entourage where he may have been captured (or worse) during the 1812 Russian campaign. Napoleons ADC's counter attacked and drove off the cossacks. Maybe an idea for one of your interesting diorama set ups.

Great stuff

Tim...excellent job as always...if he loses any of the fleece on his cuffs...he can trim some of his beard and glue it on there...

Thanks Mike! So did I go overboard on the beard or the cuffs? Maybe I should have used black on the cuffs?

Thanks Dave! That sounds like a good idea for a mini dio. Its interesting to think how history could have been changed had those Cossacks gotten there hands on Boney? And they nearly did.

Your Taras Bulba looks great on his horse.
What will your next sculpture be
?

Thanks Denver! I,m not sure yet? I still have the Austrian artillery guys to finish but I have kinda put them on hold. I kinda lost interest in them right now. What ever I try next I want to do something I can mold and then convert the casting into even more figures. I have no plans on casting the Austrian artillery guys, I,ll most likely just finish them when I get bored again and the basement warms up a bit and throw some paint on them and be done with them.
I thought about molding them and converting them into Austrian infantry also but I,m not that crazy about how they have come along, I,m not so great at sculpting and have a long way to go and they are just a part of the learning curve.
I think i,m better suited to conversion work and have a bunch of converted figures in the works right now also.
The thing that really sucks about sculpting is you can only work on a little detail at a time or you,ll ruin all the detail you just worked so hard to get done and the putty takes time to dry so you have to keep leaving the project and when I leave a project my mind wanders onto the next project and when I start another project I loose interest in the first project.:rolleyes2: Conversions on the other hand I can bash out real quick, painting them is the long hard part for me.

Nah...you did a great job...I wish I could paint...I like the beard...I like the fleece cuffs and I like the black line on the sleeve...maybe a white or grayish fleece might be less distracting...or you could leave it alone...again...they look great...

{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}Very nicely done Tim it's always great to see you in your creative mood an the results of it my friend.{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Chiming in..this is a great figure! I'm looking forward to see the unit. Good use of the TSSD horse.
