Here is the sculpt of an NCO sapper of the Imperial Dragoons. Its not quite finished yet, one or two more small changes to make. Its come out quite well I think.photo 1 (3).JPGphoto 2 (3).JPGphoto 3 (2).JPG

Looking forward to seeing the painted master of this figure, bet he will look great !!!

By the way, when you say 'Imperial Dragoons' would that mean Line Dragoons, because I have never seen any details of a Sappeur of the Imperial Guard (Empress) Dragoons !!!

If its Line Dragoons, then what Regiment are you planning on making ??

Thanks Martin and John for posting the pictures. I have never seen the one of the sapper standing with the gold piping before, excellent plate by the way,it has brought several things to my attention that I had missed. It also raises another question about the sappers sword normally they have a different hilt to the others. One with an eagles head. Most images show the eagles head on the hilt.

Thanks for posting the pictures guys. I am just trying to cover things a few things that the big manufacturers dont do, like the Eagle guards for example.

There's some debate about how accurate all that gold lace is. If correct it would be a very senior rank. I believe the infantry sappers carried a short sword with an eagle hilt that also had a serrated edge, that could be used as a saw. Dragoons needed something a bit longer! :)

I agree with you about all the gold lace, my Sapper wont have all the gold, maybe some in the epaulettes, certainly none in the piping. I was referring to the buckles I had missed. It's easily done.

Elting shows an Empress Dragoon Sapper with a long sword with an eagles head hilt but its difficult to see the details on his paintings

Thanks for the input.

Hi John
I am planning on some line regiment Dragoons in the future and these will be from the 19th or 20th regiments.
I like the yellow facings and they both fought in the Peninsular War as did the Empress Dragoons.

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the good new of line dragons, they will fit in well for that campaign, so hopefully they will crafted in campaign dress, so looking tired and dusty?

Looking forward to seeing them :)
