I agree they look great. Will need at least a couple bags. I'm even more interested to see what TSSD does for their next sets of dismounted cav and indians which will include casualties. Should be pretty cool.
The mounted Sioux are very well done. The way the figures stay on the horses without saddles is well-engineered. No broken foot pegs like the old Airfix while allowing very "clean" sculpts of both the riders and the horses.
The dynamic posing of the revolver armed Sioux hanging off the side of the horse for cover/to take a close shot is as memorable a figure as has been done in toy soldiers, IMO.
I laughed when I went to the TSSD site and saw the "teaser" photo of the upcoming cavalry casualties. I haven't had the mounted Sioux for a week and already another amazing set on the horizon seizes my imagination/curiosity.
Not my period BUT...... I like these figures. I've painted about 7 of their braves on foot. This brave looks like he's come right from the camp in a hurry, which I understand they had to.
Classic Toy Soldiers has a similar pose in their series. ( He has a shield too) But they don't stay on the horses well w/o glue or making a peg.
