Haven't seen this in ages, until today. Forgotten it was such a howler. Ten minutes in and the errors ate rampant. Opening credits song is terrible 60's music. Patton tanks and jeeps with 105 recoil-less rifles mounted on them. Worst of all are dozens of GI's marching around with slung Mk.III Enfields. Don't know if I can make it through.:rolleyes2:^&grin -- Al

Not improving. Most GI's still with Enfields, spotted a couple of dummy Thompsons mixed in with real ones. The Germans are also using Pattons with mounted M-2's and their infantry have BAR's and Bren's. Also, the music score is terrible and the story/writing is bad. Some nice scenery but so far that's it for the good stuff. -- Al

Agree with Lancer - Anzio would be one of the worst war movies I have ever seen. Certainly I regret the few $ spent buying the DVD.

So bad its almost good. Saying that I would rather watch that than modern war films which, should be better ''the last drop'' ''final scarifice'' and there are several more very poor modern films.

As I said, I hadn't seen it in years and didn't really remember how bad it was. Can't understand how Mitchum got stuck with it. Mitchum kind of reminded me of Fonda in "Battle of the Bulge" in that he was everywhere, saving the Allies with his actions and sage advice about the military situation. Now if only the generals had listened to the genius war correspondent... -- Al

I posted this before, but it bears repeating. About a year ago I MADE myself watch The Battle of the Bulge all the way thru, just because it was so bad. All for the same reasons Anzio was bad. I will admit a few beers help ease the pain.

Totally agree, Gary. BoB and Anzio are amongst the worst war movies made. Just awful. -- Al

This is why I use NetFlix :smile2:. I don't buy movies anymore and if a movie is very bad I just pick or stream another one at no extra cost :wink2:

Hello - what's NetFlix?

NetFlix is an online movie rental service. The cool thing is that it allows you also to stream movies using Xbox or any streaming enabled device. I watch movies on my Windows Phone 7! Unfortunately it only works if you are connecting to the service in the US due to copyright restrictions...Please see http://netflix.com/
