I saw the last Harry Potter movie a few days ago (yea’ I’m a bit behind the wave).

It was the 3D release.

I volunteered to take the niece and nephew to see Harry and friends today (they are on 2nd viewing), but it was in 2D. I may be a bit old fashion, but I preferred the 2D over the 3D. I don’t think that the 3D technology is quite there yet in the general theater environment yet. I enjoyed the more without the clunky glasses, special effects (AND) the extra cost for 3D.

Am I the only 2D guy left or is there another?^&confuse

I just saw Final Destination 5 in 3D IMAX and that is totally different to regular 3D. I think in the most part is a bit of a gimmick to grab more cash from you and the glasses aren't the most comfortable. I would say for me either IMAX 3D or just regular 2D.

Never seen a 3D movie (not real interested and I sure won't shell out the extra bucks), so I suppose one would say I prefer 2D. -- Al the dinosaur

Captain America was my first 3D and while the novalty was great but i found the glasses rather anoying after awhile so i do prefer old school 2D.
Funny thing though there was about 4 trailers before the movie started and they were all plugged as 3D.
What i hate about all this is there are now less session times for 2D......I refuse to buy a 3D TV also.

If the movie is filmed in 3D it's fine post production 3D is crap.
Still a big fan of IMAX though ...best thing the opening shot flying over Chicago in IMAX in the Black Night Returns.

Not a fan of 3D. I saw Captain America in 3D and thought the picture was very dark. Most of the effects looked cheesy.

3-D is a gimmick. A bad film is a bad film, and a good film is a good film, regardless of the format in which it is rendered.

Prost!

Gentle Friends,

Strangely enough, I am relieved to hear some of you prefer the 2D movies. I have not seen a 3D movie since I was a kid, but I understand they are a great deal better than the older 3D movies.

I have not attended any recent 3D movies as my wife has a visual challenge that produces an instant dizziness and headache when she is confronted with visual images that move too quickly. For example, she cannot tolerate watching a computer screen while it is scrolling nor can she spend much time watching the countryside from a fast moving vehicle. And, for these reasons, we have limited ourselves to only watching movies in 2D. I am now glad others find 2D movies offer as much pleasure as 3D ones.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

I originally saw the last Harry Potter movie in 3D and found it gave it a dark and murky effect (which also could have been the effect of all the dark magic being used I suppose :wink2:) Saw it again last night in 2D and as I had expected, found it to be more enjoyable, crisper and easier on the eyes. I didn't miss the 3D effects at all.
Saw the latest Pirates of the Caribbean in 3D and there were really only two scenes where the 3D was particularly noticable to my companions and me-not worth the added expense. My viewing experience was definitely enhanced and more enjoyable watching Avatar in 3D but I'm thinking I will pass on the 3D in most cases.
Regards,

3D is mostly for kids and teenagers. A great gimmick for low-budget horror films of the 50's and 80's. SCTV did a funny parody with features like "Doctor Tongues 3D House of Stewardesses." The host would sell the 3D glasses to the kids for $18. LOL. Fiction becoming reality with the current 3D movie prices.

2D definitely! 3D seems to be a ~30 year cyclic fad that lasts only for a few years. With all of the new 3D TVs and increased number of 3D movies, I am wondering how long this cycle is going to go before it dies out? Or will there be a permanent 3D presence from now on.

I do like 3-D glasses, though. As a fan of Devo, I had to scrounge a pair to wear at school and proudly announce devolution to all the evil spuds! Are we not men?!

Prost!
