Hmmm, a future collector in the making?:D.
Great photos, thanks for posting.
Well, there is a similar museum here in Portugal, in Sintra, some 20km from Lisbon, a place where Lord Byron once lived: http://www.museu-do-brinquedo.pt/
Take a look if you'd like, there is a fantastic toy soldier collection in the last floor, superb!

Hi, Chris, those are composition figures--kaolin and sawdust--if I'm not mistaken, though I'm not sure of the manufacturer. There are Elastolin and Lineol figures in some of the other displays, and I know they had civilian figures in their catalogs, but I have to look at reference photos to make sure. There's an Austrian maker whose name escapes me, who made similar figures, but like I said, I'd have to look 'em up.

Thanks for the photos, Dave, I'll second your recommendation as a destination to visit! If you go, take in the Jagd- und Fischerei-Museum, too, as well as the Deutsches Museum.

And visit the Augustinerkeller, while you're down there. Maximator doublebock is excellent for this time of year.

Prost!

Hi Guys,

I am happy to share the photos of this place. If you go to Munich someday you need to plan at least a week. We were there 3 days and it wasnt enough time. We visited the Residence which was the seat of power for the Bavarian Rulers and was stunning! Unfortunately it was nearly all destroyed in WWII in 1944 bombings but they have managed to restore to near original in many sections and the displays are just amazing. We also went to the Alte Pinotecke Art Museum and were just plain amazed by the number of important works or art that they had on display! I studied some Art History in College and saw many of the paintings we discussed in the flesh! Leonardo Divinci, Rembrandt, El Grecko, Flemish Artists etc etc etc! I walked by the Jagd Museum and just didnt have the time to give it its due alos the Deutsches Museum is just gigantic you would need more than one day to give to this place as well.

Also lets not forget the Beer and Food are just amazing! Also had a great time wandering the open air market that is situated around a giant May Pole. So yes my friends you must visit Munich sometime.

Hi Paulo, Portugal is very high on my want to see list so I will do my best to get there. My wife hasnt been there yet either so I think I can get her interested as well. Of course I havent told her that I really want to go and see the area because of my interest in the Penninsular Campaign. Will have to figure out a way to fit that in with some creative trip planning...

Well Guys I am glad you all like the photos.

Hi Dave,
I've been to Munich many years ago, at the start of an Oktoberfest... I do remember visiting the Art Museum and other places like the BMW museum, and yes the food was great and so where the people even when they could not speak English. On that same trip I also went to Salzburg and Vienna. I remember feeling that Bavaria and Austria should be some of the best places to live, I just loved that trip.
If you ever come to Portugal let me know if you need any help or information, it would be a pleasure to be useful.

Regards,
Paulo
