I would like to endorse Dragoon's thoughts on expanding the series with more Black Watch figures -- pipers, drummers, officers and so on. Even just one "companion" piece per time period already covered would be great.

Personally, I'd like to see a Lewis gunner for the Great War.

Would a mounted officer be possible for the series? If memory serves, someone on this board keeps asking for a mounted highlander. (Sorry to digress, but wasn't that a Monty Python sketch? "And now for something completely different -- a Scotsman on a horse.")

For non-British units, I think the French Foreign Legion and the United States Marines would both offer a great variety of uniforms over a lengthy history.

From an ACW perspective, since the uniforms didn't change much over the 4 years, how about a series of standard bearers for significant or unique regimental colors?

Yes, a mounted highlander officer, the old WB did many and they are beautiful

Don't fret too much...There are more Black Watch figures in this series, and we are discussing adding additional 'companions' to some of the figures already in the line.

Very interesting (& not at all stupid) if I may be forgiven for evoking General Burkhalter Thanks to; Polarbear for recalling the 1742 cloathing reference to mind & the supersized pic,Trooper for pointing out what I feared I couldn't sans sarcasm re Black Watch absence at Culloden-and I really wouldn't care to be sarcastic with WB in its' present incarnation,these Gentlemen are doing an EXCELLENT job and have exceeded my hopes admirably,rescuing and invigorating indeed reinventing an old friend.Delighted at the prospect of possible companion figures.For the 1740s,I'd like to see "Molly, Camp Follower" as in that sweet old anti-war song "Will Ye Go to Flanders ?",the uniforms for the Crimean bandboys (which I don't believe have been done as yet) offer possibilities,and as for pipers er well ,isn't it just possible the nappy period pipers have been done to death ? at the very least a piper doing something other than playing ,say holding the pipes bundled tucked beneath his arm -have yet to see a piper tuning drones figure or a piper casualty figure or a piper sitting on a crate shaving reeds,1885 piper shaking the dust out of his drone reeds... -with K. Osen's masterful sculpting -ah ,the stuff toy soldier dreams are made of.ob

I really like OB's ideas for piper figures doing other than playing. I also was thinking it would be exciting to overlap somewhat by introducing a new fairly ubiquitous British regiment to the series in the fairly near future. Based on the success of the Redcoats/Bluecoats range I would think these will prove to be good selling figures...they are so nicely done. I was really impressed with the painted masters earlier this year.

Hmmmm...I think there might be something along those lines in the pipeline............and not Napoleonic .
How far down the pipeline ,I'm not sure given present production circumstances so I'll say no more at the moment .....

...apart from that I'm sorry to say it's been sculpted by me ( to go with the rest other 42nd, "Museum collection" figures I did ) rather than Ken , I hope that doesn't spoil your dream too much .

Thanks for some beautiful figures Alan, Your Zulus and 42nd Highlanders are great. Very much looking forward to the release of your Napoleonic personality figures, Napoleon, Ney etc.

I love the idea though of doing an officer, - and definitely a mounted one to keep Old Celt happy (Thank you for all the reference material Woody - I have not forgotten it!). Musicians and flags would also be excellent.

Mister Dave brings up a good point too - when to move on??? Right now we have a new series planned for later in 2009 with more Blackwatch coming throughout 2009.

The idea of the Museum Collection is to provide a home for ranges of single matte finish figures in the new window boxes that can be marketed through museums and focused on a broader audience that might not be into building up large dioramas of a particular battle.
