Here is my Arnhem diorama. The bridge is made of cardboard, as were the stands for the bridge. The building which the men are on may be swapped in the future for a building similar to that at arnhem, but that will be in a few months depending on what we see from diorama companies!^&grin
The paras have sent out a patrol onto the bridge but a German armoured halftrack seen them and began firing at the jeep. The jeep is damaged (wounded are to be added hopefully:wink2
and the halftrack continues forward to the paras, believing them to be a lone patrol. Little do they know that there are men on the roof of the building beside the bridge ready to engage any enemy forces who come onto the bridge and cover the men on the bridge. The men on the roof open fire on the halftrack and the fight for control of the bridge begins.
Down on the street the main body of Frost's Company arrives in jeeps and on foot. A para carries a wounded comrade, who got his injuries when they ran into a German patrol earlier that morning. The men observe the area whoch will be their frontline until XXX Corps arrive, which they were told would be in 2 days time.:wink2:
Across the river Polish paratroopers try to send men and supplies across the river by rafts and other makeshift floats to the men in the Arnhem sector. Major Sosabowski is near watching his men and making sure things are going smoothly. The Polish paras have captured a German officer and assault gun crewman and a para is keeping them under guard with a captured MP40. The movement across the river is going well but a German boat begins floating down the river. Major Sosabowski fears that his men may be a sitting duck in the water and orders a sniper to pick off the men in the boat. Other Polish paras watch for movement of Germans on the Polish position.
I am hoping to add the hanging paras to the diorama but it will be above a small landing zone area which will be slightly behind the large building with paras on it. It will also have the 17lber and the camera man at it too. Also hoping to add a small version of the hartenstein hotel, and place Urquhart and the mortar team at it!^&grin
Will have to figure out where those captured paras are going!:wink2:^&grin
