I post some pics here of my humble collection for the interest of others. I started this in deication to my Grandfather and five of my great uncles who served and died for Australia with the A.I.F during the Great War, he and his brother are buried in France and Belgium and two other uncles also. To my Father and four uncles who served with the second A.I.F during the second World War, one of whom died at the hands of Nippon on the Burma Railway. Least we forget.

What can one say but "OUT BLOODY STANDING" Cobber. A very fine collection of vehicles, figures and memorabilia. An excellent tribute to fallen Aussies.

Great collection! I lost two Uncles in WWII, and had three others serve and survive the war, and I similarly have a shrine to my Uncles in my collection. I for one appreciate the sacrifices all Allied troops made in saving civilization from the Nazis and their Axis allies.

Thanks mate, One thing is for sure in Australia there is at least two of every town, Donnybrook Qld is just up the road from me, been fishing there many times.

Louis, Thanks mate, my dad had high praise for the Americans he served with on New Guinea. My Grandfather also helped train some U.S field engineers in 1918.

Great collection and well thought tribute to your uncles and other relatives who survived WWII. My salute to the Aussies and Kiwis who fought this theater in WWII. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. I have uncles who served with Aussies in the island of Mindanao (Southern Philippines) as coastal obeserver monitoring Japanese naval movements on Celebes Sea. They were in Balut Island off Sarangani Bay. I believe this was the same vicinity where Gen. Douglas Mc Arthur , after being evacuated from Corregidor via PT Boat and transferred to a U.S. sub on the way to Australia.

Thanks for sharing those pictures! It's great to see all that fantastic historical family stuff displayed so prominantly. I'm getting a new study later this year and I'm looking for ideas on how to make it good and you've given me some good pointers with all of these.

Thanks mate, Mc Arthur had his H.Q here in Brisbane during 1942 at the corner of Queen st and Edward st. The building is now named Mc Arthur Chambers.

There is one in WA, about 2 1/2 hours south of here, its an apple growing area.

Also the local war memorial has a German WW1 170mm TRENCH MORTAR .....

and a similar weapon, a 245mm is available from Frontline

This something I want to share with my fellow Australians. These are the opening lines of what to me is the best book I have ever read. THE GREAT WAR by Les Carlyon - the story of the A.I.F on the Western Front.
This book made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me mad, it made me sad, but above all it made me proud to be Australian.

'' THERE WERE SO MANY OF THEM, MORE THAN THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND, AND WE NEVER REALLY SAW THEM.
NOT WHEN IT MATTERED TO SEE THEM ANYWAY, NOT WHEN THEY WERE DOING THE THINGS THAT MARKED
THEM AS DIFFERENT, THEN AND NOW, FROM THE REST OF US."
Someone else who I have forgotten said of the A.I.F '' THEY TOOK ON THE MAIN ARMY OF THE MAIN ENEMY IN THE MAIN THEATRE OF THE WAR AND PREVAILED."
So if you never read a book again read this one.
This is something I just wanted to say.
