I chopped up this guy to make a Curasier from a Del Prado figure. I guess Andy saw this one earlier and liked it you think? The conversion is actually the one with the red crest. Actually I have repainted cast and painted most of the figures in this picture.

Nice conversion, you cant even tell the helmet was changed.

Thanks Fubar.

A song I found on a french website

Song cuirassiers:

In the middle of the battle,
On the clamps of their large horses,
Grayed by blood, the grapeshot,
The cuirassiers charge with the gallop.
It is the load, it is the lightning,
It is the attack in blood and the powder.
The enemy flees, the sword in the kidneys,
Leaving all its deaths on the ground.

Cuirassiers on the clamps
Their large horses,
For better drinking with the victory,
The sabres give highly to the sleeve.

Actually, that would be a carabinier, wouldn't he?

Nice job on the conversion!

I haven't tried converting any of the modern figures, like K&C, Frontline, etc. I've used only Staddens, Rose, I/R, Puchala, et al, more of the kit figures. And for the time period that I collect, 18th century, there are far fewer completed cavalry figures than there are kits.

As to the song, well, they've always been good at promoting themselves, haven't they? As Boney said when he visited the grave of Frederick the Great, "Gentlemen, if he were alive today, we would not be standing here."

Mit freundlichem Gruss

What number is that Del Prado figure?

KV, according to the Michigan Toy Soldier Co website he's number DEL NC13 - Trooper, 5e Regiment, French Cuirassiers, 1806-12 from the Del Prado 'Cavalry of the Napoleonic Wars' range. I acquired him via a swap but I think the figure is still available.

Thanks Fubar.
