My First OTSN Show - Advice Please (2 Viewers)

I received a flyer today that it's not called OTSN anymore but CTSS (Chicago Toy Soldier Show). Any idea why?

The show is now under new ownership, perhaps they decided to change the name as it's now theirs? I think they explain the reasoning on the shows Facebook page.

Roger is super nice guy, I wish him all the best; the previous owner Don is a great guy as well.

The vast majority of the show owners are nice guys, it's not an easy gig, that's for sure.

Do you anticipate any change in the way the Show operates, including moving the Show?

Yes, there will be two major changes; first off, ALL room traders will from here forward be instructed to report to rooms 5340/5342/5344 upon arrival and say hello to George and Larry. Secondly, on Sunday, all show attendees are required to FIRST go downstairs into the lower ballroom and again say hello to George and Larry.

Naturally, any purchases during this process would be appreciated......................:wink2::salute:::tongue:

But seriously; no major changes will be made according to Roger; he's got show dates locked in for the next four years, so I can only assume we'll be at the same hotel.

I look forward to seeing everyone in about a month................wow, one month to go....................

And there better be a detour to #5117 to see me & Pete --
AND you have to get through us on either side of those ballroom doors to get to G&L on Sunday! {sm4}

This thought just came to mind. I was in my mid 40's when I attended my first OTSN. In a week I'll turn 70. Haven't missed a show in that entire time frame, hope to keep the streak going.

I thought that was a given.........................^&grin

And you're right, I forgot you're on either side of the doors that lead into the ballroom I'm in................hopefully you won't set up a toll booth...............:wink2:

I'm planning to channel my inner Hulk Hogan and strong arm everyone trying to get through without making a purchase!

I may appear scrawny, but deep inside there is a ripped dude trying to get out...too bad he's hiding behind these limp noodles...

Well if you don't get them on the way into the room, you've still got a shot as they exit to go up the stairs....................plus you've got the huge advantage as far as height and reach, you can hold them off with one arm and they'll never stand a chance..................:wink2:

Help me out here Bill, as this is my first adventure to the big show, how are some people in rooms/some people in Halls?? I don't think I follow the logic?? I thought on Sunday all sellers/dealers etc. where in a big showroom???...Sammy

Sammy,

On Sunday some people are outside the showrooms. There are actually three rooms, the big ballroom, the room where George is in and a smaller room where Hobby Bunker and AeroArt are.

Any new timers, for the last 5 years or so on Saturday afternoon around 5PM in the lobby of the 4th or 5th floor they open an origional Marx sealed playset. Some guy I'm sure with bags of money bought these playsets years ago and has started a tradition by opening a set every year. If you were a Marx collector as a kid it's a pretty neat experience.
