Several weeks prior to the Chicago OTSN show, I commissioned Ken Osen (Hudson & Allen Studio) to make four scenic bases (each 22" x 22") that would incorporate all of my Wm Britian ACW farm buildings, including #51004 Farmhouse which is now scheduled for December delivery (I have one preordered). Each base would be designed so that it could be used independently by itself, or all four could be combined to create an interlocking 44-inch square diorama. I mailed Ken sketches of my ideas and I also provided him with pictures (via the Hudson & Allen thread on this forum) of what I had arranged here at home on my "play table". Ken took these ideas/pictures and "massaged" them with his artistic talent and knowledge of 19th century buildings and created the final product. I was able to pick up the bases at the Chicago OTSN show - I couldn't be happier with the results.
I set them up last night. These bases will provide a lot of flexibililty in use by just adding and moving stonewalls/fencing or by adding and changing different moveable shrubs, bushes, and trees which I plan to purchase from Ken and Ericka in the future. Here are some pictures of the bases I took this morning. I have added my buildings and also the split rail fence along the road. The plank fencing is part of the scenic bases. I provided Ken with the fence sections and he and Ericka worked their "wild grass" over the fence section bases - now for some fum . . . . . . Mike
Looking down the road
Looking at the farm yard. The large open area in front is where the Farmhouse will be placed
Looking down the country/farm access lane
Looking at the back of the farm yard
A closeup view of #17717 Spring House and Trough Section to show how Ken and Ericka incorporated my trough section into the landscape. This picture does not do it justice - it really looks awesome on the base
