My New Sword (2 Viewers)

HERES ONE FOR YA...MY BUDDY IS GOING THROUGH A DIVORCE RIGHT NOW, HE COLLECTS GERMAN PICKLEHUBS ...ANYHOW HE JUST RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HIS LAWYER REQUESTING EITHER HE SELLS THEM AND GIVES HER HALF OF THE MONEY OR HE BUYS HER OUT OF HIS COLLECTION....:eek:THIS IS NOOOOO JOKE. HE HAS REVCEIVED AN ORDER FROM THE COURTS REQUESTING THE ENTIRE COLLECTION BE CATELOGGED AND A MUTUAL APPRAISER WILL DETERMINE ITS VALUE.

You guys may think that your spouse doesn't have a claim on your collection but if it was purchased with marital assets, it's considered part of the estate that needs to be divvied up.

But it surely works both ways. You could have her handbag and shoe collection mutually appraised. That should even things up financialy. In fact in my case, I'd be in for a tidy profit

OOhhhhh Good one. No one has ever gone for that one before.

Yes, it does work both ways and if you are ever faced with this situation don't think that selling off your collection to a friend for a pittance and then buying it back will work.

Ah, so back to working on the tried and tested methods of deception and dishonesty then ;)

I like the shoe one..can we go back to that...but...throw all the hair dues, makeup, facials, lunches, clothes, spas in as well...sad thing is in most mens cases we look at it as an investment and would be willing to sell it all in a heart beat if our family needed the money...but...with women its all on them selves and they have nothing to show for it in most cases even with all the extra help....:) Perhaps men need to start buying nice clothes, going out for lunches spas massages, dinner parties with friends etc etc try to fit in and look good andwhen questioned as to who I'm trying to look good for my answer would be simply "for you my dear, I do it all for you".

Wellington,

I would recommend ditching the films and getting the books. I started reading them when they they were first published and they are a very enjoyable read. I was dissappointed with the film versions - failed to capture the essence of the books.

Sharpe has the heavy cavalry, as it was given to him by a dying officer, when Sharpe was inexperienced and unpopular with the troops, so that the troops would see that the dying officer held Sharpe in some esteem and this would help bost his confidence and kudos. Sharpe then found that the heavy and unbalanced weapon suited his rough and ready fighting style. It also allowed him to metaphorically stick two fingers up at the upper class officers.

Read the books. I don't think you'll be dissappointed. :)

Hey Simon...I just watched the movie....the officer you speak of was a 95th Rifles Officer so he should have had the sword in the first place....perhaps he got it from a dying Calvary Trooper before he handed it off....:p

WELLINGTON

I'll have to try the books sometime.

:D:D

Explained in Sharpes Rifles as Captain Murray's eccentricity. He preferred the heavy cavalry sword "that could crush a man's skull with its weight alone", to the light sabre.
