I dug up the box of my old Castle that I thought some people might be interested in seeing.

I bought this as a kid in the 1970s from the now closed Polks Hobbyshop in NYC and it has survived 40 years of moves.

After doing some research I determined that it was made by the French company Ougen from molds supplied by Hausser which is more commonly known as Elastolin.

I remember my family buying an opened sample that did not have all of the turret tops, so it came with some other ones. It came with a base which seems to have gotten lost over the years

In the late 1990s I dug up all of the old toy soldiers that had been boxed up for a while--mostly Britains and some unpainted Marx. This got me interested again and I did a small amount of buying of some Elastolin & Preiser copies of Normans, Knights, Vikings, and Rev War figures.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the Castle I dug up:

First the castle:

Then the inside and outside of the box:

Here is a photo of a complete one that I found on a French website:

Fine looking much traveled castle......even without the moat it is impressive......thanks for the pictures......TomB

Yes, thank you for posting. I am still missing my Elastolin castle that I left behind when emigrating to the US. I am quite surprised sometimes to see how many of the Elastolin items are still being traded on EBay. Are you looking for the missing moat?

Neat castle and i reckon it would give some of the newer TS buildings a run for there money!

That is how I got interested. I had the Castle with some Britain's knights that are still packed up. I started doing searches on toy soldiers on Ebay and found out about Elastolin. I didn't even know the name of them. This got me reinterested and I wound up buying some Normans, Vikings, and Am Rev figures.

Are you looking for the missing moat?

I don't think so. It would be impossible to find and expensive. I'm not in a position to start buying things right now.

POLKS HOBBY SHOP.... Like Christmas morning every time I walked thru their doors, 4 floors, if I remember correctly of bliss. Great memories, thanks...

Polks Hobby shop was an amazing place. They had 4 or 5 floors with everything from models, model railroads & accessories, science supplies like chemistry sets & microscopes, one miniature soldiers, remote power boats and planes. When you walked in on there was a full wall case with Britain's cars, tanks, and cannons, medieval Elastolin things like catapults, cannons, the whole works.
