Okay - is that like your version of the Secret Police??? Gives a whole new meaning to "Land of the Free" jb

So, on reflection, me, a "foreigner" too, using a name I picked up from old American films for what I now know are currently termed "Native Americans", may affect National Security eh?

Hmmm?? Ever heard of the term "Paranoia"? :D

Glad you like my Native Americans, knights and Timpo GI's. Maybe think twice before contacting me again though. You never know................ jb:D

One last pic - Shelf dusted - they are all back home - above my shelf of later arrivals to the USA.:Djb

Holy cow, John! Just the sheer numbers of your collection, knowing that you've repaired and refitted, and repainted each one--that's quite an accomplishment, sir! Great collection!

Isn't fixing 'em up and painting yourself fun?

Prost!

Holy Toledo Batman! - You're almost right!:D

Not exactly though - some of them were just castings too, once upon a time. So, not ALL of them repaired.

Most of them were though - BUT, not all at once - and I think that's the secret. If you find them individually, as battered, bruised and broken specimens - then appraise each one individually - as to how repairable they are - then it all seems to work out. I like to pick 'em up - and just work out what needs doing - and see in my mind's eye how they're going to look when fixed - and that's when I choose them. Fixing each one is just a process after that - but it is great to feel them coming back again.

And...yes it is great fun - as I think you well know too^&grin. It's just the best feeling when you see them - all brand-new again.

Glad you like 'em too Brad.:D jb

Hi JB,
Just back in town from 100 degree plus west Texas install...UGH!!
that was great word fun!
Public Broadcasting PBS Frontline had a 3 hr. program about the NSA surveillance programs that started after 911 and continue to run to this day, they literally have direct taps into ALL internet and phone traffic and are recording EVERYTHING, foreign and domestic! you can call it paranoia or whatever but it's real and it's reported by an entity that is majority funded by the government it's reporting on. I would guarantee there doing even more that we don't know about, they always are.
Land of the FREE... not so much...

Okay - you live there buddy - not me. :Djb

Sorry JB, a perfect example of " how the heck did I get here??" you do a great job with your figures, won't get off on a tangent again. :redface2:

We're both Toy Soldier fans - what could possibly go wrong with that perfectly harmless addiction?:D

Seriously - thanks for putting me right, (along with Pat) - I had no idea! jb

Love how you have taken them to a new level, yet the actual figure keeps its old charm- I have about 10-15lbs of these old figures I want to do the same with!

Hi Grant - glad you like 'em.^&grin Lucky you for having so many to restore.

I always strip mine completely first - and am usually pleasantly surprised with how finely some of the pieces have been originally cast and engraved with details that were usually masked by overzealous painters - who were doubtless working to tight deadlines ( usually outworkers being payed on a piecework basis). This meant that paint was liberally applied - masking some of the finer points of the well sculpted castings, virtually invisible.

I usually keep any good "spare parts" from really badly damaged specimens ( I call these "Donor figures") - and these parts can often be re-used to effect repairs to the less damaged ones. Here, pinning and glueing usually works best.

When it comes to re-painting - as there are no "uniforms" to paint - you can really let your imagination run riot.

Last thing is - the sense of achievement you can get from repairing/restoring something that was heading for the junk-pile - which is absolutely priceless.

Lucky you - best of luck with them - would love to see 'em when you're done.:salute:: All the best - jb:D
