My Way...A WWII Movie (1 Viewer)

Not heard of this Pete but sure looks good, I'd like to see this.

I think it would be fascinating to see a WWII movie that is directed by a South Korean director. The perspective could be very different than we are used to.

It looks like the director also did a Korean War movie a few years back called Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War. Looks worth a look as well.

I just ran across an ad for this. Looks interesting - has anyone heard of it?

It's about a Korean forced to fight for Japan...then captured and forced to fight for Russia....then captured and forced to fight for Germany (ending up at D-Day). Allegedly 'inspired by true events.'

Pete,

I look forward to seeing this film myself because of the director's past work. The director, Je-Kyu Kang, also did the Korean movie "The Brotherhood of War" which is one of the best war movies I have seen. I highly recommend watching that film.

Also, I recommend another Korean film on the Korean War titled "The Front Line". I have that movie as well and it is excellent, though Brotherhood is the better film.

I recently saw "My Way"..it is pretty spectacular..good story with great battle scenes from the Russians fighting the Japanese, The Russians fighting the Germans in Stalingrad and then Germans fighting the Americans at Normandy. Great visuals all the way..

I did get this on blu-ray and watched it this week. Great flick! Loved the story line and the action scenes were excellent. I recommend it.

It does seem to be too incredible but Donald Burgett (506th PIR) wrote about finding Asian dead in German uniform in Normandy in his account of that battle.

One of the larger Foreign contingents of the German Army was the "Indische Legion", formed from Indian Soldiers. As the "Free India" movement developed - the British responded by putting members of the Indian Congress under house arrest. As a consequence, all-volunteer units of Indian Soldiers were formed and travelled to Europe.

They fought with both the German Army - and also the Waffen SS. They saw action in western Europe - which included the D-Day invasion.
Here's a pic of Rommel inspecting some Foreign Contingent troops - note the Soldier nearest the camera.

Since there has been a lack of good war films lately I was looking forward to seeing this.
I almost bought the dvd but found that the library had a copy.
Watched it last night, sorry folks, it was dumb, dumb, double dumb!
In a way it reminded me of the epic all time bad war movie starring Henry Fonda, Battle of the Bulge.

You and I usually agree on movies and tv shows, but not this time as I watched this one last night.

I thought it was excellent, the CGI was very well done, the massed infantry attack on the Germans in the bombed out city was very good, as was the bombers dropping their payloads on the Normandy beaches.

Not to mention all the T26 tanks in the beginning as the Japanese fought the Russians.............just curious as to what aspects you found to be dumb/Battle of the Bulgeish...............
