I just purchased this having no idea what it was simply because I liked it. Does anyone know what it is???? It almost seems homemade as the horses don't seem to match the style of the wagon and the figures are odd as well.
Thanks!

Do you mean the maker? I almost want to say Metal Shed.

Brad, that was my thought when I first saw it in the catalogue, but I am not completely familiar with them so wasn't sure. If it is....I got a good bargain here! {sm3}

Zach, it's a beautiful piece, whomever the maker. The engine looks like it could be but not sure about the horses. Distinctive!

Having been a docent at the San Diego Firehouse Museum for ten years, I have a pretty good sense as to what's typical of the period. I think your steamer is great . . . although the harness arrangement looks a bit odd, fire rigs of the time used special harnesses that would drop down over the horse and could be fastened quickly. Even if the model is a figment of the makers imagination, there are not too many people around these days who can say the setups wrong from their personal experience. So enjoy a wonderful find . . .

Congrats- you won that! I also bid on that...being a firefighter and all...

Not metal shed. I can't tell if it a repro or not. I saw it in the catalog, but it reminds me of the old cast iron toys and might be a more modern copy would be my guess. Neat piece though.
