Re: N.b.a. 2015-2

Lakers vs 76ers tonight! The battle for the lottery pick next year. Kobe is not even playing. Imagine paying NBA ticket prices to suffer through this mess.

Mike:

Isn't their lottery pick and record somehow tied to the Sixers?

-Jason

they have the 2 worst records in the NBA...

the Lakers should have thrown that game...

or put Kobe in...

they needed to lose it...

Lakers GM admits 2015-16 is all about Kobe, not developing young guys...

I know all you guys disagreed with me a few posts ago...

when I said I didn't think Kobe had any place in the All Star game...

but this is going too far...

Kupchak is basically saying...

we will forfeit this entire season to let Kobe have one farewell parade after another...

can't tell you how much I disagree with ya'll...and how much I hate this...

it's a disservice to the team...the players...the fans and their opponents...

Kobe got paid a king's ransom and even refused to re-structure or re-negotiate his salary to help the team...

he's a rich...greedy...egotistical bastard...

Mike,

I remember a long time ago in a galaxy far away when The Admiral was getting ready to retire. Apparently, he waived a 15 or 20 million dollar signing bonus when he signed with the Spurs as an escrow to his replacement. When Tim Duncan came on the bonus money was there to sweeten the deal. When Duncan learned of how the signing bonus came about, he waived that bonus to put into escrow for his replacement someday. So, if Aldridge is the guy who is being groomed to be the Duncan replacement, they will have bonus money (with decades of interest) to offer to Aldridge. It is my hope (and I suspect) that he too will continue the tradition of paying it forward to ensure that the Spurs always have the ways and means to keep a "big man" at the center. Hence, between the players and the franchise, they have all worked together on the basics of keeping a Team strong and kept money and ego's out of it. The Spurs ALWAYS have a plan and that is why I love 'em.

Mike it is okay that you are a Laker/Kobe fan. But, now a days I am really not worried about the Spurs playing the Lakers because all they got is KOBE. When (in the early 2000's) when the Lakers had Kobe, Shaq, Fischer and Horry...man they were lethal!!! There was no stopping them, but when Shaq left and went to Miami is when I think it was the beginning of the end for the Lakers. Is he rich?...yes...is he egotistical?...I'm sure he is...greedy...perhaps...

But, the real questions is...is he humble in his successes AND failures? That one (humility) I don't think it is even in his vernacular and that's why he will only be applauded for a long song of statistics versus a legacy.

Kupchak is an idiot. Just look at the state of the Lakers since Jerry Buss passed, but none of this mess is Kobe's fault. The guy hasn't even played much of the last two seasons due to injuries. How much development time do the other guys need? Kobe has won five titles. He is entitled to a farewell tour and I don't see anything inconsistent with that in developing younger players. There are plenty of games in the NBA season. This season is not down the tubes due to Kobe, but because the Lakers have made some awful decisions over the last five years or so. That's on Kupchak.

John...I am a Laker's fan...and I'm a fan of Kobe Bryant...

he "was" on the the greatest players ever in the NBA...but the Shaq/Kobe era is over...the new injured Kobe era is over...

Bryant is not nor ever has been humble...he is a ball hog and a glory hog...he always has been....it's always been "my team" with him...he has been allowed to have approval or veto input into trades for years...game strategy...draft selections...and playing time...even Jackson will tell you that...

and I'm okay with that as long as he is a central core player...part of their future...and productive....I think he has a great basketball mind and has valuable input...

Kobe was great...he brought me several rings...but like a punch drunk boxer...his career is over...he needs to retire...he is doing nothing but hurting the team as a player and not letting them develop the players they have...his 25-35 shots a game with an amazingly low percentage rate is depriving other players of developing...his 20-35 minutes per game is depriving players that are the future of the team playing time...

Doug...what is a farewell tour?

you want to put on a short laser light show before the game...wave a banner...have a short speech...I'm okay with that...but Scott...Kupchack and the Buss children...seem to have taken it to a new level...

they have basically said...forget this season...forget the millions of dollars...forget developing a new core of 5 players for the future...forget the fans...it's all about Kobe...let him take as many shots as he wants...who cares if he shoots at a 10% clip...who cares if we lose...who cares about our record...who cares about the immediate future...we owe this to Kobe...

I do...I care...nobody owes Kobe anything...he has been extremely well compensated for his services...

Kobe gets to put up as many errant shots in a game as he wants and that's not right...no other player could get away with that...

I have taken the "what have you done for me lately" road with Bryant...

it's time for him to step aside and let the new Lakers develop a team...they have had some high draft picks the last couple of seasons...and should enjoy another one this year...

I just can't see forfeiting this season to honor Kobe with a "farewell tour"...

for Kupchack to come out to the media and Laker's fans...and say this is what our goal is this year...win or lose...it's all about Kobe this year...this is wrong...

Kobe is too vain to sit on the bench...

can't wait for this season to end...

I remember during Kareem's final year they had a pregame ceremony in every final road game city appearance the Lakers had for the entire season. Well deserved. He was a great player. It may have been a bit of a distraction but no one seemed to mind. Kobe is a HOF player. One of the best of the last few decades. Almost every player in the NBA and all professional sports is egotistical. It goes with the territory. Kupchak framed his comments in a stupid way. It's not mutually exclusive to see off Kobe in the right way and develop young players. Kupchak knows this season is DOA because his team stinks. The only distraction left from his responsibility is Kobe's departure. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't also his final year with the Lakers.

Paulo...

I don't know if Scott is really that bad...it's so hard to say...he has been hampered with draft injuries...Kobe's injuries...and the Buss's undying loyalty to carrying Kobe out on a throne...if he is there next year...we should be able to get a good mark on his coaching abilities...

Doug...

I don't see Kupchak departing...I think all the coaching staff and management just wants to get past the Buss's commitment to Kobe's farewell tour and see if they can right the ship...

The Celtics?

They stink.

And I can say that as a life long Celtics fan; they are 19-16, sit at seventh in the East and will be bouned from the playoffs in the first round.

Just like last year.

They have a very good young coach who will bail if he's smart once his contract is up, he's been bashing his head against the wall with this team, put together by that stooge Danny Ainge, the same moron who when the Celtics had the best record in the NBA a few years ago, traded away Kendrick Perkins becuse he thought a 210 year old Shaq could play center, they he blew out his calf and the Celtics have never been the same team.

They are in the worst possible shape you can be in for an NBA team; a middle of the road team that is not great like Golden State or does not absolutely suck like the Lakers, so they are doomed to be mediocre for years to come, not winning championships and not finishing last so they get a good draft pick.

AND, they lost to the Lakers when Kobe came onto the court in his motorized wheelchair and drained the winning shot at his last ever appearance at the Garden (and thank Christ for that, go retire already)................................how in the name of God do you lose AT HOME to that absolute train wreck of a team, an absolute embarassment. Glad it happened though as after that loss, I will not pay attention to anything the Celtics do again this year until the Super Bowl is over.

Ok, rant off, back to Kobe...................

you're slaying me...

210 year old Shaq and Kobe's motorized wheelchair...

too funny!

not sure who is the hardest to interview...

Belichick...The Beast or Popovich...

Gregg Popovich is at his curmudgeonly best in interview with Craig Sager

see video...

http://www.foxsports.com/nba/story/...nly-best-in-interview-with-craig-sager-011416

Popovich is pure class who like Belichick hides his true demeanor behind a gruff exterior.

See his response to Craig Sager's absence due to cancer via Craig's son, Craig Sager Jr. a couple of years ago:

Jason...

I just watched that video...

true...a nice sweet sincere heartfelt statement...

but Pop can be pretty rude if you ask the wrong question or if he doesn't feel like talking...

when you win as much as Popovich and Belichick do...

you can handle the press just about anyway you want to...

cause the press needs you more than you need them...

Golden St. looks dominant. They just put a 30+ point whooping on LeBron. Maybe the best team since the 80's.

I watched most of that game on TNT...Lebron can't beat them by himself...he threw an elbow at one point...looked very frustrated...
