Fellow Nap Collectors,

I was curious to find out which are your favorites in the Napoleonic range:

1. Favorite foot figure?
2. Favorite mounted figure?
3. Favorite set? (Multiple figures)

My favorite foot figure has to be NA052, Drummer lunging with rifle butt. What a dynamic pose!

My favorite mounted figure would be NA114, Charging sword forward. This was a hard choice, but I give this figure the slight edge over several others.

My favorite set is definitely NA087, The Sgt. Ewart Set. As much as I like the artillery sets, this was hands down the winner.

How about you guys?

As far as retirements, the Black Watch came out in November 2004, so I see them leaving the scene this year. The King’s Legion were released in November 2005 and they were retired in September 2007. The Black Watch are overdue to be retired. The Guard were released in August 2005, so they are due to be retired this year as well. I don’t know if you guys do this, but I keep an Excel spreadsheet with all of my figures listed. I have the item#, name, price per item, release date and retirement date. If the Scots Grays are retired this year, that will be a little early since they were released in June of 2006.

My picks would be:

Favorite Single Figure: PM 01 - NAPOLEON ! (of course)

Favorite Horse Figure : NA 26 - NAPOLEON ! ( ;) )

Favorite Set - Actually a tie for me:

NA 64 - Old Guard Artillery Set

NA 29 - French Prisoner

Hey, do think there is a pattern here ?

Hey Ron

Glad to see that your photo posting skills are now up a couple of notches.

Favourite NAP pieces are .... Imperial Guard advancing with rifle/bayonet (the one I have most pieces) ,
The charging Cuirassier General, and
The RHA artillery set... wish K&C released a second gun with different crew.

1. NA052 is a favourite of mine as well, good for knocking off Cuirassiers. For variety here I will also say NA097 - RHA Officer
2. NA119, nice and dynamic, well executed figure
3. Glad to say most Nap figures are available individually, not many sets since I started a few months ago. Guess I would say NA098 - RHA gun crew, nice and colourful.

C'mon guys! There has got to be more than six Nap collector's out there.

One of my favourite pieces is the French Gunner.............

As a fellow Napoleonics collector, I couldn't leave you guys in the lurch ;)!

I haven't been involved in the hobby for that great a length of time, so I probably don't have as wide a range of experience or as large a collection as some you guys to draw upon, but the Napoleonic item that really stands out for me isn't just a single figure, but an entire range - the Coldstream Guards.

I've had a very passionate interest in the Napoleonic Wars for a long time, and had always been attracted to K&C's ranges from that conflict, but it was these releases that finally persuaded me to throw my hat into the ring and enter the toy soldier hobby properly.

For me, the CG figures really stood out because they were very representative of typical generic British line infantry from the period (albeit Guardsmen!) as opposed to Highlanders, KGL, Highland Light Infantry, etc. (although these ranges are all superb in their own way) – and this was precisely what I was looking for. What’s more, with their Belgic shakoes, grey trousers, etc., they were uniformed and equipped perfectly for the Waterloo campaign, which has always caught my interest head and shoulders above any other Napoleonic clashes.

So, yep, effectively it was these guys who sealed the deal for me on toy soldier collecting in general and King and Country’s products in particular!

Out of the range, it’s difficult to select an individual figure – I think all the releases so far have been superb, and are extremely evocative of a rather haggard looking redcoat firing line down to their last few cartridges at Quatre Bras or on the evening of Waterloo. If pushed, I might select NA136 - the wounded Guardsman depicted as though trying to raise himself up off the ground. I think that figure really stands as a testament to the designer and painter’s skill in that it perfectly captures the feel of an unfortunate individual in extreme pain and discomfort, yet manages to do without explicitly showing any wound, or even gore. NA134, the Coldstream Corporal standing ready with fixed bayonet as though preparing to defend the regimental colours or engage in last-ditch hand to hand fighting is also particularily good.

All told, an excellent set of figures from one of K&C’s best large ranges.

After finishing off my outstanding Guardsmen, plus a few multiples, I can see my attention likely turning to the enemy – the French Cuirassiers. I have a strong feeling these guys will represent my first cavalry purchase in this scale – looking forward to it!

Cheers all,

Molloy.

Howdy again. Don't worry mk26gmls, we're out here, just not as rowdy as the WWII'ers.

My favourite NAPs are...

NA23 3rd Line Grenadier Mounted Officer
NA25 Mounted Chasseur a Cheval
KCS074 Vistula Lancer

Yes..I know they're all mounted (and French) but the first two are what got me into the game and the likes of the third are what keep me in it. All good fun what!

The group setting would have to be without a doubt, the French Guard Artillery.

Cheers

I don't recognize that one, W, who is he? Certainly looks like a great set, and I agree it's kind of a refreshing non-combat scenario.

Favorite overall figure (though I don't have him) is the Royal Horse Artillery NCO with his sword drawn. Great uniform!

I don't remember how many of thses were made again with their counterparts?
