Those of you who thought we might get distracted with new ranges and forget our Napoleonic roots can rest easy as we begin yet another pre-order for Napoleon's Europe. This time it's the long awaited French Old Guard Grenadiers. Napoleon's "Grumblers" were the most feared troops of the Napoleonic Wars. With stringent entry requirements including a minimum of 10years of service, a citation for bravery, participation in 3 campaigns, and a minimum height requirement of 5’10” tall, these most favored troops of the Emperor were also an elite strike force which Napoleon kept in his reserve to be called upon at the most critical point of a battle to break the enemy line or to stave off defeat.

After well over a year and a half in the making, we are so very pleased to begin the pre-order of sets NAP0021-NAP0029 French Old Guard Grenadiers. We really are just tickled by how well the figures came out. These will be shippping to customers in mid-December 2009 in plenty of time to make that Christmas wish list!

We sincerely hope you enjoy them!

Another spectacular release.
The feature with the 4 different faces for the marching Grenadiers is an effort that sure will be appreciated by the collectors of multiples.
Congratulations, Matt!

Excellent, stunning figures again Matt.:eek::cool: As in describing Bob's diodrama episodes, you are making it challenging to avoid redundant superlatives. When in doubt I will simply revert to AWESOME.:D Your timing on these is rather convenient as well.;)

Very, very nice Matt. I might try to pick up a couple of these for the very few Napoleonics that I have. Faces are almost too realistic.

LOL, great observation Brad. That means if we buy them, we may have to keep them in food and wine and maybe even .........:D:D:D

Thanks Konrad. Each of the privates has a unique head as well as there are two different sets of legs, it's just hard to tell them apart only looking at them from the front unless you know what you're looking for. The side images on our website show the difference more clearly. In addition, there are two arm variants for the four privates, one showing one stripe (10 years of service), the other showing 2 stripes (20 years of service). Different than any other release we've done before, these are presented in full dress parade order, thus, it was a bit more difficult to provide the variety and still be true to the release. The variants are much more subtle because of this, but as you've pointed out, provide some welcome differences to large groupings preferable to buying multiples of the exact same figure.

Thanks Brad. Careful though, "realism" is often considered a four letter word on the TF forum. :D

WOW These look Great ! simply another must have release from what is now the best producers of Napoleonic figures in the industry no disrespect to the ones that were here first . Seems like I've been waiting for these for a long long time. They seem to be worth the wait and as always they will look better in my hands . Sorry to say this but Im not to excited about another $5.00 jump in price for the basic pose figure but what can you do you can't expect to get figures at this level of sculpting and painting cheap. Don't get me wrong I still think they are deal at $49.95 but it will just take me longer to afford the number of Figures i'll need to realize the display I'm thinking of . Like all the good things man lust for in this world it just cost a little more to have the best ;)

Matt-
As usual, excellent work! The detail on these, especially on the faces, is amazing. You have raised the bar again.

Matt,

Wonderful new figures, well worth the wait. Your $49.95 pricing is a hoot. Why not just be done with it and price your figures at $50.00. I know it is a marketing ploy, but it doesn't really fool anyone.

When I am figuring up the total cost of my orders I always round it up to 50 dollars anyway. Let's see:

2 figures cost $100.00
20 figures cost $1,000.00
200 figures cost $10,000.00
2000 figures cost $100,000.00

I haven't been able to place any $100,000.00 orders yet. I will get there, but only a little bit at a time.

These Old Guard figures will make answering the question of what I want for Christmas easy.

I think these will sell fast. Napoleon's Old Guard has always been a very popular subject and these figures are the best I have ever seen. They could easily become the centerpiece of any Napoleonic Miniatures Collection.

Talking about selling out. Nineteen out of thirty French Infantry figures are sold out at the present time.:(

I think that is a short term situation related to the first production run. Maybe Matt can confirm but I believe we will be seeing another run on those shortly. I certainly hope so because I have several additional duplicates I have been waiting to order.;)

You are correct, we will be producing more of these figures in early 2010 as we haven't yet produced our full alottment of 500 of each figure. In addition, when we do the new production run, we're also creating 6 new codes to add even more variety to the existing release. We will provide more information regarding these figures as we get closer to making them available again.

Best,

Matt

Sweet !! Now thats and understatement . Will only the sculpts be different or will there be a different unit represented ?

No and no. Essentially, there are some oversights in our first release that we're addressing, particuarly as it relates to march attack figures. For example, in the initial release we only did a Voltigeur in March Attack in campaign dress (trousers and shako cover with no plume). One of the six figures will be a march attack voltigeur in full dress. Another new variant will be two more NAP0035 combinations - campaign dress and full dress with a different head. Still another variant will be the NAP0045 (or 46 - the one with the bare head) - everyone loves that sculpt but we've had many requests to put him in a normal shako as multiples of the bareheaded figure doesn't work very well. Things like this to add additional variety to make what is already a very comprehensive release even more comprehensive.

That is great news about NAP0045; I was thinking about modifying one or two until I saw this. That one and NAP0046 are two of my three favorites for that line, the third being the NAP0048 close quarters sapper.:D

Matt-
This sounds great. I was hoping to start a group of French line infantry when the restocks come in, as I passed on them at first. And having a few more poses will make it all the better.

After looking at Adkin's 'Waterloo Companion' for the hundreth time, I was thinking that any future British Highlanders will need some French infantry to drive back!
