Putting all of this talk of Stalingrad Stugs aside for a minute, we are pleased to annouce the pre-order of our next release for Napoleon's Europe. This time around it's the Russian Artillery at Borodino.

Back in June we released TER003 Artillery Redoubt which was designed as part of our Borodino coverage. Well we are finally releasing what you need to fill it properly with sets NAP0171-NAP0173 Russian Foot Artillery! This set is available in an A and B version, the difference being the type of gun it ships with. NAP0171A comes with a 12lb heavy field piece and 6 figures, while NAP0171B comes with a 20lb Licorne (howitzer) and 6 figures. For additional flexibility, each of the guns is also sold separately as NAP0172 12lb Heavy Field Piece and NAP0173 20lb Licorne (howitzer). With this addition, our coverage of the Russian army continues to grow with the first of the infantry not too far off. These figures will be shipping to customers mid-November 2009. We sincerely hope you enjoy them.

NAP0171A Russian 12lb Foot Artillery Set - $295
NAP0171B Russian 20lb Licorne Foot Artillery Set - $295
NAP0172 Russian 12lb Heavy Field - $59.95
NAP0173 Russian 20lb Licorne Howitzer - $59.95

WOW ! Absolutely Fantastic ! I love the poses of the crew .The picture looks Great , Now I must get ready for work so I can build up my First Legion funds. Thanks for yet another Superb release. I don't think everybody will be in disagreement on this one. Thanks again. ;)

Beautiful looking set, the best artillery figures to date I think. Congratulations on another stunner.:cool::D

Matt,

its great to see that you have chosen a differnt pose that most makers, which is firing the gun with this time you have the gunners the aiming of the gun. Maybe with some future atrillery sets you may wish to condsider running the guns back onto the mark, after firing, as they sure moved back a few feet with that sort of recoil. This can be done with any of your artillery sets and then with a couple of differnt sets of gunners, using the same gun, collectors can build up a relaistic battery of guns to comabt the enemy.

Well done with these guys, they will surly send Napoleon back across the Niemen and out of the Motherland!

I certainly look forward to perhaps some RHA pieces with such lovely detail to aid the British at Waterloo (and eventually other:cool:) campaigns.:D a pair of horses for those would be nice as well.;):D

Matt,

What a joy it is to see NAP0173, 20lb Licorne (howitzer). These cannons are so very much uniquely Russian. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the shape of its cannon’s tube.

In earlier forum messages I had thought you had said something about doing two different cannon crews for the Russian guns. Am I confused or is that something we can still look forward to later?

This is going to look so good in my redoubt.

Glad to hear that you like them. Actually, in earlier posts it was Treefroggers asking for different crews if I remember correctly, not us saying we'd provide them. :D

We did the A and B variants on this to allow for customers to have one of each gun with a full crew. With the French Artillery for example, there was no way to have a full crew with both the 12lb and 8lb cannons without getting an extra 12lb cannon.

We feel that one crew is certainly more than enough for the time being, though we do have something planned to expand this a bit in the future that is specifically meant for Borodino...

If I had more money and more space I would definitely get into this range. Great looking figures! :)

Though I am saving for some of the French cavalry, I do appreicate this excellent set. It looks great, as we would expect.

The crew is in my wish list! I hope to order it soon! I wonder if I could apply for federal stimulus money for historical preservation and presentation?

I have received my Russian Artillery set, another outstanding set.

King's Man

Hi King's Man ,
I'm jealous . I have been trying to lengthen my lines a bit this month with some infantry . I have it on my wish list for HO HO I'll just have to wait and see what it will be the Nassau Line Infantry or the Russian Artillery set . How does it compare to the other Artillery sets from the Photo's it looks to be the best so far. All the best Gebhard

Yesterday my russian artillery arrived! Great!!! - Today I have seen again the epic movie "War and piece" (US-Version with Henry Fonda). Chapter 18, the battle for the first redoubt: russian guard infantry defended the flanks of the redoubt. They look fantastic with theier helmets (big golden ones as they dressed by Austerlitz). Historicaly incorrect? But would be a great add-on to defend my FL-russian artillery:)

How is the scale on the artillery crew? Are they similar to the French artillery figures which were closer to 60mm then the infantry?

Just so we are talking apples, I assume you mean as measured to the eyes since the French and British infantry to date have measured from 59.5 to 61 mm from sole to top of bare head. Given all the scale discussions, I have measure them several times with a digital caliper. It is most accurate to measure to from sole to eyes and chin to eyes and add the two to avoid having to estimate the head position in the hats. Turns out the eyes are exactly in the center of a human head. I don't have the French artillery but on the site they appear to be a couple of mm or so taller.

They are a little bigger that the other figures but not that much. They are not as noticeable as putting FL infantry next to K&C figures. IMO I hope to get the Russian artillery crew after the first of the year.
