When it comes to Napoleonics, we are very strong advocates of the line infantry. Sure, the Guards are perhaps more famous or colorful or what have you, but it was the line infantry who made up the backbone and striking power of the Grande Armee. So here we are, once more into the breach, with our latest creation for our Napoleon's Europe flagship figure range, our rendition of the 18th Line Infantry Regiment in firing line. This regiment was one of the most famous and elite of all of the French Line regiments and was thus nicknamed “the Brave.” They distinguished themselves in action at both Aspern Essling and Borodino in addition to 36 other engagements. Presented in the style that is unique to First Legion, the initial release of the Fusilier/Center Companies contains 21 different figures. The Grenadier and Voltigeur companies will follow in the not too distant future. Coverage of this depth and variety allows you to put together an impressive and, above all, extremely realistic diorama of French Napoleonic infantry in line of battle. These figures will be shipping to customers early May 2012. We sincerely hope you enjoy them!

And that's a wrap and a very timely one at that as our first French Line infantry release of advancing/marching infantry is just about fully sold out. So this new regiment is perfect for shooting down loads of Austrians, Russian, Prussians, and British, whatever strikes your fancy!

Best,

Matt

Great stuff , these guys combined with the earlier line infantry should look fantastic.

WOW ....An Absolute beauty of a release... we all new this was coming and I'm still blown away {eek3} The 18th have never looked so good First Legion just keep raising the bar. Your sculptors must be complimented its no small order to come up with 21 different figures to represent a regiment in firing line not to mention the quality of painting just top notch . The $1,193.95 bucks its gonna cost me to make one of each of these a part of my collection is now at the front of of TS budget over the coming months ,, They just look Fantastic and I agree nothing says Napoleonics like French Line :wink2: . I would really like to see First Legion produce some Prussian Landwehr figures down the road so I could recreate the Battle of Hagelberg ^&grin but thats for another thread . For know I will just drool over the 18th .. man these are AWESOME . Hats off to your team on another must have release . When it come to Napoleonics there is First Legion and then there is .......... well can't think of anyone even close yet . Regards Gebhard ( the broke )

Totally Agree Gebhard.....Quite Simply....EXCELLENT{bravo}}.....First Legion does it again.....Superb Painting and Detail.......First Legion Rules...{sm4}{sm4}

While this preorder is no surprise, it is certainly a much-anticipated announcement. I know there are a number of Nap collectors (including Gebhard!) who have been waiting in this release. While not a Nap collector, I am still impressed by the variety of pose and dress in this group. Little details such as the greatcoats being different shades is more realistic than most of us would probably imagine. Plus, when you add in the fact that there will be more additions to this regiment, it shows why First Legion does the Napoleonic Era better than anyone!

With the future releases of Voltigeurs and Grenadiers, this regiment looks like a centrepiece rather than my usual sampling. I suspect the total cost will eventually be $2000.

Very nice, very nice indeed.

I have been waiting a life time for these guys. Really, these figures fulfill a personal lifelong dream.

Thank you, First Legion

These look top notch and will finally make me take the plunge and buy some First Legion.

When I envision French Napoleonic infantry this is what I see. These are the classic traditional look and must haves for the core of any Napoleonic collection. I've gotta stop visiting the FL thread because everything I see I want and Napoleonic's are only a secondary interest of mine! :redface2: Beautiful product FL, well done, keep up the good work. ^&cool

WOW Mr. Pavone, this time you (FL) did a great release in Napoleonic. The painting and the sculpture poses are the best I ever see, faces are magnifique ....
Wonderful figures

Le dieu de la guerre est fier de voir son armée bien représenté......

I salute you....

Regards

I know you noticed this Gebhard, but I want to bring it up anyway. The time from the preorder to the figures being in-stock was pretty short on this release. I seem to remember Matt stating a while back that he was going to drastically reduce the delay between preorder and shipment. Looks like he is doing just that!:)

Noah

These figures look absolutely stunning! Congrats to FL!

Hi Noah ,
I did notice that and it's always nice when improvements are made {bravo}} with all my experience with Matt he has been a man of his word and really does try to listen to the coustomers . Did you happen to also notice with this new release of the French Line that the Sergeant is listed as such in the figure description as are the other figures of rank so as to make it easier for collectors not familiar the French rank insignia of the time to distinguish who is who , another improvement as well . I'm really looking forward to adding these guys to my ever growing collection . Best regards my friend Gebhard

Gebhard, I did notice that, and as you said, it is a help to those not real familiar with the French rank system. That would certainly be me! It seems like a small thing, but I think it is important to recognize those little details on FL's site. If someone better understands the rank system and how each figure could fit into a display, it makes viewing the pics all the better!

I know you will enjoy these new French troops, but remember not to dip into your reserve funds. You have a couple of mounted Prussian officers to pick up later this summer!^&grin

Hi Noah ,
I could go on and on about the new French line release but all I will say is four of them are on the way and I'm excited about my latest order ^&grin trying to keep up with older releases and the new ones is not easy :redface2: . I have been waiting literally years for the upcoming Blücher and Gneisenau figures and have had money set aside for those guys for a long time :wink2: Cheers Gebhard
