Continuing with our Retreat from Russia Series, we are pleased to present the Russian Don Cossacks of the Napoleonic Wars. During Napoleon's invasion of Russia, the Russian Cossacks were the troops that the French feared the most. Not heavy battlefield cavalry, but rather used effectively as light cavalry, the Russian Cossacks constantly harried the French forces both during their advance and, as we have portrayed them here, during the Retreat. Operating both in direct support of the main Russian field armies as well as behind the French lines as a very early example of guerrilla troops, the Cossacks were extremely effective and played a key role in disrupting supply and interrupting communication. Though we have done these figures under the banner of our Retreat from Russia range, they can be used for a much broader selection of the period. However, as part of the Retreat Series, these figures are painted to an incredibly high level and perfectly match the French Infantry and sledges which we've already released and make a wonderful addition to the Retreat from Russia series of figures.

I agree, and the officer is magnificent as well.

The regular Cossacks aren't bad, just not as flashy and interesting. Still, FL fools me a lot and sometime the less flashy (thinking Caesarian Romans) end up becoming my favorites in a line.

Very nice! I will be adding this to my collection after the 2nd sledge arrives.

Just picked up 3 of the mounted figures a few weeks ago along with a fleeing French soldier on foot. I'm really enjoying them.

French Cuirassier who really wishes he had his horse right about now! The detail from head to toe is fantastic.

This is a great range, I have 12 of the French sets, they are superbly detailed and will keeping adding too, the sledges are a little out of price range but they are excellent, the new twin set looks like a must for me, lets hope the range goes from strength to strength.

I love this range too, and I'll commence construction on a diorama soon featuring many of the figures from the range. I have the general design worked out already..just need the time to execute the plan as well as pick up a few more figures to complete the composition like the new twin set you mentioned.

Thanks Ray! Glad you enjoyed the photos. My favorite is the Cossack with the French helmet & armor too. I'll be placing these figures in diorama that I hope to complete in the coming months. I'll share photos when it's done, but it will be a while still. This range just has a tangible, urgent pulse to it....such wonderful sculpting.
