From a few years I was waiting for new russian infantry. I think I said a few times Russian Tauride are my faworite FL figures, and I was hope to continue my Borodino project. So when I have seen new figures are same which I already had I got disappointed.
Ok for future I should think twice before posting more complains. Good to know already that polish lancers will be the same as red lancers, this helps me to avoid next disappointment and posting next complains.
Staying big fan of FL figures and waiting for new releases.
Great dio!
Just to add a bit of follow up to this. One of the things that makes us unique and that I believe our customers appreciate is that when we do these releases we do a LOT of different figure variants all performing slightly different actions within the same basic movement. This allows for really nice formations with variety in them so that fewer or no repeats are necessary and the subtle movement variances make for a more realistic display. These figures were very much designed with that in mind and were meant to be displayed similar to the group image of them. So there are 17 figures in total in this case, with other releases we have done more with one with 30 and one with 40 different figures. We do this to offer the collector a variety in the type of display that they setup. Now, we what we could have done was release some of the figures as Tauride Grenadiers and some of the figures as Pavlovski Grenadiers, therefore there would be little to no overlap between the two releases. But...neither release would be as good as it could be or have the flexibility that each release has. It's simply not economical to sculpt 17 different Tauride Grenadiers and 17 different Pavlovski Grenadiers. Not for Russian figures anyway which have a lower popularity than say French figures. So I guess it's all in how you look at it. With 17 different figures there is a pretty decent variety in what you can do with them in terms of a display. Looking at the image below, the front unit looks very different in pose/action than the rear unit. All made from the same release. So folks can either complain that the figures are used again (which is certainly their right to do so!) or applaud the size and scope and variety of the release and the fact that we create as many Russian/Prussian/Austrian/Polish/Confederation/etc figures as we do.
Anyway, I think you guys know my thoughts on this and I have listened to and noted the feedback, both good and bad and I don't have any issue whatsoever with collectors complaining as I'm well aware that in an ideal world all of you would have preferred totally new sculpts for this release. I get that. But the situation was really either Pavlovski Grenadiers produced like this or not produced at all. For those who want this regiment in their collection or more Russian Napoleonic figures in general, we think it's a great release. For those who have an issue with the release because they have the previous Tauride Grenadiers, that's too bad as you're missing out on superior figures of an iconic regiment.
Last point just to be sure there is no confusion. I make this post and others solely to explain our thinking behind why we do what we do, not to try to convince anyone to think other than they think or to suppress critique or anything like that. It's simply to share my thinking, nothing more nothing less!
Best,
Matt
