We continue to expand our Retreat from Russia sub-series to Napoleon's Europe with this extremely poignant set NAP0577 French Carabinier and Drummer Boy Resigned to their Fate. The set features a drummer boy huddled up against a dismounted French Carabinier who has taken refuge from the bitter cold against a tree very much resigned to his fate. A crow awaits the inevitable perched on a branch of the tree. This scene captures the way Napoleon's invasion of Russia came to an end for so many of it's Grande Armee participants. We find it a unique and fitting addition to the series and we hope you enjoy it.

NAP0577 French Carabinier and Drummer Boy Resigned to their Fate $149.95

Many of FL's very best sculpts come from this sub-range. This is a wonderful piece.

Agreed. Although I don't have many fl naps. I think this is a tremendous piece.

This piece is absolutely stunning. What a well composed sculpture!
I'll definitely be adding it to my collection!

What a terribly depressing piece- and I say that as a very positive statement as this picture really hammers the human cost of war and how terrible that retreat and winter were. It spared NO ONE.

I really believe this is one of those very rare pieces that comes along and moves from the TS realm to actual art- art in terms of once you see it, it makes you pause and think- it isn't just about troop deployments, which panzer was at which battle, which road wheel is historically accurate, etc. It makes you pause and remember not everyone who pays the price in war is over the age of 18 and male.

Well said :salute::

The soldiers who accompanied Napoleon to Russia reaped what he sowed and the Patriotic War of 1812 was the result. Although what happened to Napoleon's soldiers is tragic, let us not forget what those soldiers did to the Russian people.
