I noticed some additions to this series in the new Collector's Magazine.....
This is a great series with some of the best sculpting and painting K&C has done. The initial releases were very unique, illustrating the scientific/archaeological aspects of the expedition. The Napoleon figure mounted on the camel is wonderful.
The pictures in the magazine show a mounted French infantryman on a donkey (somewhat whimsical with his fat belly sticking out!), a laughing drummer boy and another officer observing. I along with several other collectors really wanted to see some action poses and Mameluke cavalry. A Battle of the Pyramids diorama would encompass the Mameluke cavalry charge, French squares and a background filled with palm trees, Arab Village houses and antiquities.
Maybe Andy and company can give us a hint of things to come!

I love this range ! It has great figures - with wonderful action and terrific cross-over options with other K&C ranges.

It certainly deserves a :

NAPOLEON !

I think that Andy has hinted that this range will be expanding into the fighting poses, and the opposition armies, so we all have lots to look forward to.

I'm also waiting for the change of uniform to the locally made colourful coats that replaced the standard French Blue coats, and the leather caps for the demi brigades.

Also British infantry in stove pipe shakos which and then be used in the later Penninsular Campaign.

All will revealed in 'the fullness of time'

I personally have only the Napoleon so far, but I'm planning to get the rest of the releases gradually. That, with some ATS and Manes Marziano, would make a great scene.

I intend to collect these (except of course the drummer boy). Right or wrong I am hoping to combine with the new TG releases as my only venture into this era. Good intentions, hopefully I will not crack as I know the Nap's that are ready out there will break the bank if I succumb. Cheers, Robin.

I humbly suggest avoiding the new TGs, as like you implied, they are not that exact time period. Instead, look at Manes Marziano or ATS. But I know you will find some way to make it all look cool- especially with your LOJ and desert village sets!

I know you are right and I also have a weakness in this history period, should stick to WWII and Zulu, but what I do like is I have the opportunity to come into 2 new series from the starting point and collect everything. I know they will not gel, but I am quite interested in what exciting pieces TG can come up with. I also have few TCS Nap's (the old guard), which I like, so I intend to mash them altogether and keep under the radar from all purest's of Nap's on this forum. Cannot believe I am talking about this, because before Napoleon in Egypt (such a colourful series), I was never going to collect any of this period due to so much out there and as a army builder, the cost of so many duplicates to form battle lines. Hoping the forum members will not come down on me to hard. Cheers, Robin

Welcome to the NAP bandwagon :) In a way, the army building days and long battle lines will be harder to come by because of the much higher cost compared to previously. So far, the Napoleon in Egypt has catered to this change because the poses are more individualistic .. and not requiring getting multiples.

Hope you will enjoy ... ;)

Here's an idea: I think I remember that you like to scratch build... how 'bout a rocket ship? Those were used by the brits (though I don't know if they were used then), and were fairly small and would be easy to do! Other companies make both British sailors/naval artillery and Egyptian artillery that could make a small unexpected barage on a french camp.....

I know I said that this part of history was vague for me, but even I know there were no space ships out in the desert, but than again those pyramides were built somehow. The only way I could build anything is to throw money at it. I have no talent to build from scratch, sometimes I wonder if I even have the scratch to maintain this expensive hobby. When I ordered the TG RHA I thought these were French dudes, shows how much I know about uniforms. Not good when you cannot pick whose side the figures are supposed to represent. Cheers, Robin.

Rocket ships- not what they sound like{sm4}

About building ships- the following kit could easily accommodate the rockets, and with a tall mast and a larger sail, it could pass as a small 54mm "rocket ship"^&grin:

About the RRT (Royal Rocket Troop) uniforms: when I first bought the WBritain RHA set, beack when I only had a dozen figures (it was my first arty set), I thought it was French! I also though Wellington and the 95th rifles were French, due to his blue civilian attire, and their dark uniforms :D:cool:{sm4}{sm3}{eek3}! So don't feel bad about lack of knowledge- with collecting, every new figure is a history lesson, and an excuse to dig more into that era. I'm sure your collection will look great- any off my nit-picking is purely in a joking manner- as long as you don't question why I use ACW buildings for the Napoleonic Wars......:wink2:

Vive Napoleon 1er, par la grâce de Dieu et les constitutions de la République, Empereur des Français, Roi d'Italie, Protecteur de la Confédération du Rhin, et Médiateur de la Confédération suisse,

Sandor, just enjoying the salvo's with you. This hobby keeps me sane, work drives me mad, but necessary to support the upcoming ranks. From all accounts Nap in Egypt will require another stash of money in Feb, following every month if you can believe it, with new TG Nap releases for the rest of the year. This line is going to overtake my LOJ and SOTE series very quickly. Cheers, Robin.

Check out K&C new release e-mails under the new Sphinx you will see a new Napoleon figure on foot.

Hi Sandor

I dont have said 2-mail. A photo to share would be appreciated. ;)
