I'm getting increasingly envious of all you WW11 collectors out there getting all this armour and support vehicles. The tanks and vehicles are ouststanding and look great in a dio.
So what I am asking for is some Napoleonic transport. French and British.
Some supply wagons, gun limbers and caissons would be nice. How about a French ambulance and support crew?
Anyone else think the same?
Paul

I agree but Andy has stated in the past that he is not inclined to do 4 to 6 horse driven caissons or wagons. He explained that they are difficult to ship and the limber and harnesses expensive to produce.
I think we may see one eventually from CS and WB.

Hi

My friends and I were only talking about the same subject at weekend.

The WW2 models are just getting better and better but not a lot for us pre 1900's collectors - The best cannon/caison was produced by Britains for their ACW series. Sometimes I think I should of collected WW2 - prehaps they may re release or bring out a new edition - they may even make a 60mm version as they appear to be making their figures bigger. (ref: Britains thread)

So, I hate to steal Richard's thunder, but at a recent toy soldier meet, he informed me that WBritain is going to produce a French (Larrey-esque) ambulence! Complete with driver, surgeon, casualties, etc... Much like the one they have for civil war. So start buying Britains! Once you go WBritain, you never go back! :)

Also, he is debating making nap horse artillery/w limber. So petion him as much as you can to follow through with these!

Yes I have also heard that K&C say that it would be too expensive to produce a multi-horse limber.
I saw this on one of their talks on Toy Soldier TV.:(

I can't understand that logic at all. These WW2 tanks and other vehicles cost hundreds of pounds. So why does K&C believe that a gun limber and horses would be too expensive for us Napoleonic collectors?

Or could it be that the tanks are cheap to make in comparison and have a larger profit margin than a gun a limber would yield.

I'm glad to hear that Britains are thinking about Napoleonic transports.
I really don't mind who does it as long as someone does.
K&C, CSC or Britains.
I collect them all.:)

I'm sure that we won't be getting any going on what Andy has said about the cost.

Seeing that there would be 4 horses, 2 riders then a limber and a gun, tha would have to be looking at $400 minimum for a French team! If you want RHA you would also have two gunners on the limber, so add another $60.

When you consider that the Rev War Supply Wagon was $105with only one horse and soldier, I think that something similar could be done for the Napoleonic era, even a recast of the same wagon and horse? We could use any walking figure to accompany the horse, so why not?

The Larrey Ambulance has only one horse, so that's a possibility too, and Id love to see Larrey himself treating some wounded soldiers, and maybe some medics as well.

Also a Cantinerie wagon, again one horse, and we already the 'lady' NA124 or NA192 to accompany that wagon.

Here' hoping ????

Naaaah ... us Napoleonic collectors cant afford such high value items. all we want is perhaps 3 or 4 guns for the battery, or 8 to 12 mounted cavalry,
or 20 to 30 infantry for our firing lines, columns or part squares

Yes,

I'll agree with all that..... massed lines of Infantry all the same figure, battery of guns all to knock down the horses.....

Thats what looks great, so that what I'm building on..... piece by piece.... but constrained by the budget :(

I would love to see K&C make one of these, I know it's not going to happen but wouldn't that be the icing on the cake for us Napoleonic collectors.:cool:

I don't see why a limber wouldn't sell, WB did one for WWI it has long retired and trying to find one now is nigh on impossible. At the time the MSRP was $400 and I believe limited to 300 sets.

There seem to be a lot of buzz about the new Figarti Locomotive and that is retailing for $499. The money is out there, you just have to bring out a corker to make us part with it :)

I just remebered that Frontline did an Napoleonic RHA limber and gun team, and its still listed on their website

rha3.gif

RHA3 @ $324

rha4.jpg

RHA4 2 x additional horses with rider @ $96

So thats $420 for a 6 horse gun team..... but they also say that the additional horses come free with RHA3 !!!

Those sets have been around for some time, therefore my $400+ for K&C would be correct.

For those who want Napoleonic artillery, wagons etc check out the ATS website www.ats-uk.net He shows French gun teams, Larrey ambulance, Napoleon's carriage and landau, British RHA team pulling gun, caisson, spare wheel cart and rocket cart, French caisson and wagon. Nik produces the largest range of Napoleonics in the world, check it out and see.

This is what I am looking for...

I have a chunk of it, see my album:

but I am looking for the whole team as shown below !

Oh that reminds me, seeing the gun team, that I have a HINCHLIFFE Horse Artillery of the Guard still in its original box, out in the shed, needing my 'lick of paint'

Its got 4 horses, 2 riders, limber and gun, AND a trumpeter and an infantryman in greatcoat marching along.

All I need is more time to paint :(

Roll on retirement :)

Hi,
The full team looks fantastic.
I also have part of this set. The two horses and limber but it isn't in very good condition and needs some work. I bought it on ebay and it was damaged in transit.:(
I didn't realise that there were more horses to go with it.
I believe this was part of a Del Prado type partwork about artillery pieces which wasn't very successful and not distributed in the UK.
I have got to get this set.
Does anyone know who produced it and when?
Anyone that has one that they don't want please let me know.
Regards
Paul

The French gun team is by Andrea and was never anything to do with Del Prado. I believe it is still available, check out www.andrea-miniatures.com

Now that is interesting.
Although the figures and the team look like the same casting the part of the set I have is not painted that well and certainly nowhere near as good as the one on the Andrea website.
I know they are not Del Prado. I did say "Del Prado type partwork" on the original posting.
Anyway I have had a dig around at home and found out that this gun limber was sold in sections as a partwork.
Now I need to find the two other parts that went with it.
Thanks for the response.:)

Well Paul, if you have some of the pieces, what scale are they relative to Britains?
